Ok on IE how to I make it so when I click a link it opens maximized? I have winXP SP2 if that means anything
January 1, 2005 at 6:24 pm #110472SpikeMemberI honestly don’t think that’s possible. Although Dave might be able to help…
But, yeah, seriously, I’ve thought of that, too, and I can’t find any way to do it.
EDIT: Try using a diferent browser, you might like it. I personally use Maxthon. It uses IE coding, so youll still se all of your favorite sites, but it’s much more secure.
January 1, 2005 at 6:36 pm #110480LinuxAddictMemberI too thought the same thing but if you open a blank window and drag the corners to the edges of the screen. That would be the closest thing to being maximised. Unless like Spike said Dave might know.
January 1, 2005 at 6:57 pm #110468ladie_vennomMemberto do that right click on the IE icon, go to properties. In properties, go under the “shortcut” tab to “run”, and select maximized in the drop down menu. see if that helps.
January 1, 2005 at 7:11 pm #110466Jeff HesterKeymasterWho needs IE anyway. We have Firefox now…. http://www.mozilla.org/firefox
January 1, 2005 at 7:24 pm #110474DrBroccoliParticipantyeah, I used firefox when I had win98 but with the improvements with SP2 and all I actually like IE
Oh and BTW when I right click the ‘con it gives me the internet properties and no “shortcut” tab, I tried right clicking the desktop one and the start menu one
January 1, 2005 at 7:31 pm #110475DrBroccoliParticipantAlso in the past they opened full then they started minimized and thats where we are now so I dunno what happened
January 1, 2005 at 7:37 pm #110469ladie_vennomMemberwhen u click on propeties u should have a general tab, shortcut tab.
January 1, 2005 at 7:41 pm #110470TigerbladeParticipantno… the default system icon for IE isnt a shortcut, its different… to get to the properties you’re talking about, he needs to make a shortcut to the executable. its usually in C:/program files/internet explorer/iexplore.exe
January 1, 2005 at 7:48 pm #110476DrBroccoliParticipantI right clicked the thing tigerblade said too but I still didnt see any shortcut tab or anything heres what I opened:
I created a shortcut to that then click properties on the shortcut and clicked max but problem not solved!
January 1, 2005 at 7:48 pm #110479ChristopherMemberif you put this code on a webpage…
if (top.frames.length!=0) top.location=self.document.location;
self.moveTo(0,0);
self.resizeTo(screen.availWidth,screen.availHeight);
self.focus();
then ie will become maximized
January 1, 2005 at 7:54 pm #110477DrBroccoliParticipantI am not talking about my own webpages… I am talking about when I click I link, like for example from google that opens in a new page… I want that page to be maximized

Hey, nice skin for Windows. Did you design that yourself?! Nice.January 1, 2005 at 8:13 pm #110471TigerbladeParticipantmiltonbulldog09 wrote:I created a shortcut to that then click properties on the shortcut and clicked max but problem not solved!problem being that when you click a link inside of IE, it doesnt open in a maximized new window? i dont think there’s anything you can do about that… just the way IE worksJanuary 1, 2005 at 8:15 pm #110473SpikeMemberOK, stop with the Shortcut thing, that’s not right. That’s for when you open IE for the first time. He wants to know when you click on a link, if you can get it maximized. And the answer’s no. I have never seen that happen. So you’re stuck to double-clicking the Title bar, Milton, sorry.
