MemberHey, man, I bet I’ve got the same problem!
And I found out that downloading installations another time won’t help you! Once I scanned the system with ad-aware and with registry medic I reinstalled the older version and Messenger began to work correctly. But…. 4 a few days :(. I tried to do the same… Nah, It’s not working…October 22, 2004 at 7:58 am #36337SS_AntiHacker
MemberHey sarahtowny,
Have you updated your Norton Antivirus 2005 and AVG before you scan your computer? Have you try to use Ad-aware, SpyBot Search and Destroy with them updated of course. If all that still doesn’t help, please go to “Start” => “Run”. Type in “msconfig”. “Startup” tab. Post all your “Startup Items” here.

Programs that is running in the background might be the cause of unwanted effects on the computer (intentionally or unintentionally) such as a virus, spyware, etc.

SarahHi Sarahtowny,
Reverting to an older version before the upgrade is just a temporary fix. I do not think that is the source of the problem. You shouldn’t get booted off Y!M for using the updated version.

MemberHi
Did not think of it as a temporary fix, so I saw someone recommend spybot search and distroy, not used that before use x-cleaner. But anyway thought what the heck might as well download it and it found 38 infected files! wow… anyway lets see how I go from here. Hope it works now…..
Many thanks
