This weekend I went up to Edinburgh, Scotland for the weekend.
We stayed quite central and there are plenty of buses and taxis to get you around. The hotel was very nice with a huge Scottish breakfast to set you up for the day! I was not keen on the potato cakes but the bacon and sausages and black pudding were just yummy! The hotel was called the Apex and if you click on the link you can see how nice it was.

So on the Saturday we set off in search of the castle, which is on top of an extinct volcano. Walking to the top was not for the faint hearted, I certainly walked off my breakfast! There is an easy route for those without the energy or unable to go up the steps. Below is a link to the history of the castle.

Once at the top the views were just amazing.
As you can see it was sooo cold but the history of the castle was fascinating and the crown jewels in the vault were beautiful.
We even saw William Wallace, might be me but if you saw Braveheart then Mel Gibson looked a lot nicer! Hehe
On the Saturday night we went to a lovely Chinese banquette and filled up our tummies all over again! The five nation’s rugby is on here at the moment. Scotland were playing Ireland and the atmosphere was fantastic.
All in all a wonderful break and I would suggest it to anyone visiting my shores! Sorry took so many pics but if you know me it’s a hobby of mine :0)
What a wonderful postcard! Sounds like a fun trip, and the photos are great.
One question though… what the heck is “black pudding?”
haha well it is not made of very nice ingredients – A large sausage made from pigs blood, suet and seasonings.
But had it as a child and loved it, so it was much later I learnt it had blood in it but it far too late by then I loved it! Not many people eat it because of the contents, but if I was to make you shut your eyes and not tell you what was in it, and give you a taste, I am sure you would say it’s a taste bud heaven! Honest ;0)

By the way black pudding is congealed pig’s blood in a length of intestine.That’s like the Germans blotwürst and the Spanish morcilla which is often bound with rice.They shouldn’t be allowed to call it Black Pudding, how deceiving *blink blink blink* But hey…um yeah, whatever floats your boat *thumbs up* Just…keep it to yourself, heheheh.
The pictures are great, Sarah! Heheh, good timing too, I just saw Braveheart yesterday. *click click clicks her tongue* Yeah, he looked a bit better in the flick in my opinion too *wink*
The other pictures are just stunning. I can’t get over how lovely everything looks. I’ve never seen anything like it.
