I’m not sure if Snitz offers this or not, but it would be a benifit if you could use a number-word validation, so when a new member joins, they have to enter the number it shows to prevent the signing up of a bot, and have us flooded with emails as we have already have had, with that one wanting us to donate money to Afarica or something. I know major email companies use it like hotmail and yahoo mail, and hell I’m even going to use it on my forum… so if its availaible, use it up Jeff!!

2 – It doesn’t prevent someone from signing up and configuring a bot send emails. This is already VERY difficult to do. In the past two years, I can count on one hand the number of spam messages I’ve received through this forum’s email feature, so I don’t think it’s a serious problem. What the number DOES do is prevent someone from creating a bot that automatically creates lots of accounts, which has also never been a problem here. I did implement the email validation, which requires new members to supply a valid email and click an activation link before they can login and post. This is the most effective way to prevent abuse.
Having said that, if they ever do offer the number-image validation, I’ll add that, too.
