MemberLooking for a private network IM – but hosted for me, not on a LAN.
That is, I create accounts for my users. No open registration.Essentials: text messaging, archive records, fileshare.
Default startup with online connection set at admin level desirable.
Groups management desirable re access to other users.
Interopability with MSN AIM a nice extra but only if I can set it per user.Budget of $100 max per month for 50 to 100 users:
Instan-t/ Interactiveni – fantastic has everything I want – except I can't send or receive messages!
JMessenger – great but you have to disable any firewall !!!!!
Brosix – No interopability, no skinning or branding. Good but my employees kept disabling it. No option to make it default startup.
DKMessenger – looks good have emailed enquiry re groups management. $99.95 quoted 100 users – not clear – per month?Any more please?

ParticipantI imagine you have ruled out Microsoft Office Communicator, and IBM Sametime? I don't think either of those are by-user-per-month, but the initial investment might be a bit much.

MemberThe only one I've heard of is Brosix- I think there's an option available to control whether or not users can disable it. Check out their webpage- brosix . com
