MemberAlright, so I downloaded the .ISO images for Fedora Core 3 from the website, and burned them to CD-R’s. I set the BIOS on my computer to boot from CD-ROM, and restart my machine with the ISO CD inside, but nothing comes up. I’ve tried using the .ISO images from the website, and several of the mirrors as well. I’ve tried burning using two different CD+/-RW drives, three different CD burning software (ISOmagic, BurnAtOnce, and Roxio), and I’ve tried booting the CD’s from three computers.
I’m sure I’m doing something wrong, I just don’t know what. Thanks.
(edit: Also, I burned an .ISO image of Fedora Core 1 (Using Roxio) a few days earlier on accident, and it worked when I booted the any of the three systems. But not FC3… )
(edit2: I just tried burning the first disc of FC3 with ISO Recorder Power Toy, and that doesn’t boot up either.)

MemberHurricane are you burning them as images or data CD’s, as you must burn them as a bootable image.. I find this program http://download.watsky.net/burncdcc.zip (61KB) is great for that application as it sets all those options by default.

MemberI just used that program to burn a CD, and when I try to boot the system that I want to use it on, it stays at Boot From CD for a long time, then just continues. It doesn’t do this with any of the other ones I’ve made.
Also, if it helps, I’m using the first four files on this page.
[edit: I made a boot disc with the other CD-RW drive, and it’s working. I’ll post again when I get it done, or if it suddenly doesn’t work anymore]

MemberI’m only having problems with the second and third disc. When I did the media check when you start the Fedora installation, it says Disc 1 and 4 pass, while 2 and 3 fail. Within the past 3 or 4 hours, I must’ve downloaded at least 3 different versions of those .ISO images and wasted 6 CD-R’s on burning them.
[edit: I tried installing again. Put in the first disc and went with the installation, and then all these error messages kept coming up. I guess the first disc is bad too. These files are from the FC site (not mirrors), and I’ve tried a lot of times, redownloading, burning, etc. I’m thinking about just buying the media for it from one of the vendors. It just really pisses me off, the CD’s I make can boot and can be read, but they just have errors all over the place. )

MemberI recently bought a new DVD-RW drive, and I tried burning the FC3 DVD image to a DVD. It boots up fine, and I do the disc check thing, and it says that the disc passes the test and will work. But then I get going, and get all these bug errors (pretty much the same as when I used multiple CD-R’s) and then at the end, it says there’s a major problem or something, and says the install program (Anaconda, was it?) cannot continue.
I’ve tried a few times with this too, and been getting the same problem.
