well.. i tried changing a password for one of my screen names. i used gaim to do it because aim has taken the internal password changer out and you now have to do it through the site. anyway, i changed the pass but when i try to log in using aim i get an invalid password error. it works fine on gaim though. i cant figure out why. and they are EXACTLY the same. i copy and pasted to be sure. the only possible reason i could think of is that this was an old aol screen name that i still use on aim. i no longer have aol though. so maybe im still in their servers as an aol user and cannot change my password on aim properly? i dont know, anyone else ever had this problem?
do both your old and new password not work when using AIM?
neither work on aim. but if i go back into gaim and change it back to the original password, it works again.
Why can’t you change it via the AOL website?
its not actually an aol screen name anymore. it used to be but ive gotten rid of that long ago. tried logging into aol.com just incase but it didnt work.
Can you change it here?:
https://aim.aol.com/password/change_password.adp?screenname=SN&ccode=us
It’s not an AOL screenname, but it must still be an AIM screenname.
worked perfectly! thanks david. i didnt try the website, i used the other password change feature in gaim
Your welcome. 🙂
Btw thats where AIM 5.5 will take you when you select ‘change password’ from the MyAIM -> Options menu.
