well this problem is strange…
sometimes I am able to send files above 2 Mb without any problem and sometimes even if the file is above 1Mb it(Y!) stops me but at the same time my friend is able to send me large files…. Also for past few days, whenever I try sending file (even my pic) it starts after a few mins… I have a cable net connection with nice speed… any clues?
I find Yahoo totally fascinating at times. sometimes I can send files without any trouble and sometimes I can’t send anything. However, the last time I read up on the maximum file size, the limit was set at 1Mb.
Zipping files does not really compress them by that much so I dont think this is a viable option for really big files. what I do is to split large files into smaller pieces, of 900 Kb each, using a program called WinRar. It should then be possible to send files via messenger and when the user gets all the file pieces, he/she simply clicks on any one of the parts and hey presto you get the full file.
The only downfall with this is that the user that gets the smaller files has to have WinRar installed. However, I prefer to send things via email anyway cos I have found that sending certain files by messenger corrupts them.
