Google Guru
MemberEdit: I posted the wrong avatar to begin with, so its this one:

When I try to use it, it just says Invalid URL.

ParticipantIt’s probably because it is being hosted on a site that periodically updates every so often? If thats the case, the forum might not allow it (or even understand it). If it’s just a static image, just save it to your HD and upload it to the forum.

MemberFirstly, I think you meant to use this picture:

And secondly (I just tried what you did and got the same thing), I have no idea what’s going on. It’s possible that vBulletin (our forum software) is reading that avatar and seeing it as being dynamically created (from l33tsig), therefore disallowing it. There could be a number of different reasons, however. As far as I can tell, it should work, but it’s not. Dunno what to tell you. 🙁

MemberYeah, that’s the correct image… I couldn’t figure out what to put there for the space. :p But I’m almost sure I saw it somewhere here on the forum, or was it another forum, I don’t know. I guess I’ll just have to wait until an admin comes to this thread.

KeymasterI’m not sure what the problem is. I’ll dig into it.

KeymasterOk, I contacted vBulletin and they suggested that the ‘+’ sign in the filename might be causing the problem. Can you rename the file so there is no + symbol in it?
Yes, I know that doesn’t make much sense, especially since it works with the IMG tag, but they were pretty insistent that we give renaming a try.

MemberNo, I cannot. It is a dynamic image and the server that it is on decides what it is, and since my username there is Google Guru, that makes the image Google+Guru (the plus for the space).

ParticipantSo can you not create a new user name or a new account? 😉

KeymasterOk, I tested with this URL: http://www.l33tsig.net/av/1/GoogleGuru.png which isn’t really a “valid” account but does return an image:

Unfortunately, when you try to use as your avatar, you get the same message: “Invalid URL.” I’m still looking into this, but I think maybe it has to do with how the image is being served by l33tsig.net I suspect they are using mod_rewrite to parse the URL and redirect to a php file for generating the image “on the fly.” Have you asked over at the l33tsig forums?

MemberWell, did you try what that person suggested? Use [noparse]http://www.l33tsig.net/av/1/Google%20Guru.png[/noparse] Seems like it would work.

MemberThe admin says he has a problem with that on another forum too, and his name doesn’t have a space in it. But it works okay on Invision-based boards…

ParticipantHey (I’m PJ, coder / admin from L33TSig) – I can not see what the problem is, I use my L33TAV on another vBulletin forums, and it works perfectly fine. I will look into this for you though.
Edit: Ok, I do not use L33TAV on another vBulletin forums, I just checked, this case is really wierd… hmm…

MemberI’m still sticking with my original answer that vBulletin detects that as a dynamic avatar (generated by a script) therefore does not allow it (because you could do malicious things with dynamically created images). I don’t think you’ll be able to have that avatar here. 🙁

KeymasterBut Spike, that doesn’t make sense to me, since it works fine using the IMG tags.
