KeymasterYou might have to do a clean install incase there are some malware or bad files in the Yahoo Messenger folder directory. I had a problem with Yahoo Messenger continuously popping up in the foreground and I heard a click sound and the ad in the bottom was updating. I go into my Yahoo folder and also under my profile and I saw odd files that shouldn’t be there (probably adware). I did a clean install and it no longer has this problem or odd behavior. But make sure to backup your convo files first before a complete removal. To do a complete removal, first remove Yahoo in add/remove programs and then delete the folder manually.
Speaking of adware, what do the files that end with – and — do? They are under the Yahoo!/Messenger directory. Also, I notice a file with the extension pem, but it says it is a plugin file in the file name.

Participant.pem – audio module (I also found it with Privacy Enhanced Mail Certificate as the description on another site)
.and – Animation file extension (AniData)
This File Extensions List is quite nice ad easy to use.
As for the original problem Priyaa is experiencing – I think we should wait for Vem0m or Dermot to weigh in with a possible solution They are the gurus on Yahoo Messenger and it’s inner workings. A complete reinstall may be a little premature.
