MemberI’m having a problem singing in, plain and simple. But, it’s not my connection, I don’t have any proxies, I tried using a proxy, my computer is spyware/virus free, I’ve uninstalled MSN Live twice and reinstalled it, and the weird part is it seems to log in but doesnt retrieve anything.
I have another computer in the house and it works fine. Gets on and such. This one just started acting up this morning. Just sits at signing in. I tried going on the other computer, and its fine. But if I stay logged in and go to the problem computer, it kicks me off but it never shows my contact list.
I’m beginning to think my computer is banned or something? I’m really stumped about this.

ParticipantYou got the error message it gives you? It will help us narrow down to determine which area to research your answer.

MemberI think I am getting something similar. And no, there is no error message given when it fails.
Below was a message I was going to post at the top level, but perhpase it will help if I just tack it on to the thread. See if someone can help.
I am using Messenger 8.0 (build 8.0.0812.00) (the latest)….
When I try and connect messenger just hangs for a long time (a couple of minutes or more) then finally just gives up without giving an error messeage.
I can log in with a different msn account (my partners) on the machine.
If I supply the wrong password, I get an immediate message for that proboem. so I am sure it is the correct password and getting far enough to figure that part out.
I have logged in on the MSN web site and to my hotmail account they both work. I can also log in using this problem user on a different computer.
I tried using and older version of 8.x (circa August). It has the same problem. I did use this version quite successfully for some time, and I believe even the newer version was working fine until a few days ago.
I do remember finding the computer rebooted (it is normally left on all the time) with a either a windows update or am McAfee update which was a little unusual it normall does not do reboots on it own.
I did uninstall and installed a 7.5 version and that will let me login in. Then I upgraded that back to the version above and same problem.
Anyone have any idea what to try next?

The error message doesn’t even help me at all. Redirects me to the connection troubleshooter. I’m letting it run now to hopefully get the error, as jeff has stated he also gets the same problem. But mine is that I can’t login to any other accounts on this machine. But another computer in the house, same connection and network and all, logs in fine and such.
