MemberHi. when I enter a chat room, audio device on. I only ever hear the first comment by another chatroom user. then nothing else after. if I click on the green Talk button then I hear one voice again. and then nothing. in otherwords I can only listen if I click on the Talk button …which I cannot really do as it annoys the other users of the room.
i am using windows98se. and a logitech webcam with mic. but I have the sam problem just with a mic.
this problem also appears when I do a one to one voice conference. I get the first message and then silence.
this is really bugging me now. I have checked some forum pages, but nothing similar to my problem.
any ideas please??????

Memberits an odd problem but I have come across it before. Unfortunately I am not sure of the exact nature of the problem. If I recall, the last person I encountered with this problem had mic and speakers hooked up properly and passed the audio wizard setup test – not sure. if this is the case, I would first recommend doing a custom uninstall of Messenger and re-installing Messenger after a fresh re-boot (for instructions http://www.doc-rocks-dungeon.com/chathelp7.htm). Upon installation, run the audio wizard setup test again and see if it works now.
If this doesn’t solve the problem, then it would have to be a hardware problem/conflict. Its kind of hard to work with on a forum though. I can be found in Yahoo chat help room 6 if you would like to try figuring this out. Unless perhaps another forum member has a fix for this problem.

Memberthanks for the help. I tried the uninstall thing. and it still didn’t work. so maybe it’s a hardware problem. why do I hear the first comment tho? and then just silence after they’ve made the first comment??? that’s a little odd isn’t it? thanks again.

MemberDo you use a router? i.e. on a cable or adsl internet connection?
If so, you will find this page helpful http://www.helpbytes.co.uk/yconnect.php
