MemberI have trillian 0.74 but i cannot send or receive any file of any kind, is there anything i can do? -i won’t try upgrade my trillian- (if that’s an option) which leads me to another question:
will cerulean studios force me someday to upgrade my trillian just like msn did?April 19, 2005 at 4:49 pm #119817AwesomeSauce
ParticipantUhh… just update your Trillian? Is there a reason why you shouldn’t update?

MemberBut of course!!!!, trillian 0.74 has some features that 3.0 doesn’t. That’s why i don’t want to upgrade it

They won’t force you to upgrade, but if MSN (or another messenger service) change their service so that Trillian doesn’t work anymore then Cerulean Studios are very unlikely to update Trillian so that it works again.April 21, 2005 at 12:36 pm #119812Jeff Hester
KeymasterCould you elaborate? What exactly happens when you try to send or receive a file. Do you get any error message? Check the Status window (click on the appropriate messenger connection icon and scroll down and pick Show Status window) and see what it says there.
Try going to Trillian Preferences -> File Transfers -> and under Accepting make sure it doesn’t say Never on Users on contact list.

MemberWhen someone sends me a file, it it says at the incoming file window: “error during file transfer”, and when i check the status window, it says “connection for file transfer failed”. I already check at the trillian preferences, and i put “always” (to accepting) and it didn’t work…

MemberIf you look in prefs under chatting services -> (medium name) -> misc (or DCC for IRC) you’ll see options related to the port(s) for outgoing file transfers (except yahoo, which doesn’t have file tranfers in 0.74). If you’re behind a router you’ll need to open matching ports for people to be able to connect inbound to you (which is what happens when you send a file).
If you’re having trouble receiving files, chances are good that the person you’re receiving from needs to go through the above procedure, although it can’t hurt for you to try it first.
