MemberHello, i am having problems with the beta version. My messenger crashes at random. I am running ytunnel with it and when i check the ytunnel diagnostics box it says this…………
[PXY] Yahoo messenger disconnected! ((SOCECONNRESET) Connection reset by peer)
Is this a socket problem? THis only happens when i run the beta messenger. If i go back to the old messenger ( 6 ) this problem stops occuring. I have tried running messenger without ytunnel also but it still happens. Any ideas?

Well as it says, its still in the BETA testing stage.. so what you are experiencing right now is one of the bugs of that beta. So, i suggest to stick to the stable version which is Y!M 6.0 until such time Yahoo releases the offcial Y!M 7.0

MemberYeah i realize it’s still BETA. Everybody i have talked to and all my friends that have it don’t have this problem though. I feel sure it is a Yahoo problem since it only happens to the BETA version and not version6 but i just can’t figure out why it seems like i am the only one having this problem

MemberIt could be a number of things. Are you using a dialup connection? It seems that dialup and 7.0 haven’t been playing nice together. You said its random, maybe something is triggering it? Possibly when you have mutiple IM’s?

Possibly when you have mutiple IM’s?No i have cable internet and usually it’s when i am closing a pm box. other times i can be doing random things such as trying to click on a chat room. It’s weird. At first i thought i might have got a corrupt download, so i downloaded it again. Then i thought it might be my ytunnel so i tried it without ytunnel. Than i thought thee may be something on my PC causeing it. I went back to version 6 and no problems so i am sure it is something dealing with the beta version.

MemberMany people I’ve heard having the same problem, random disconnects. Keep in mind that beta is just that… Beta. If it doesn’t bother you, then leave it alone, if its driving you crazy, I would uninstall that version, completely. Which of course means not only thru add/remove programs, but going into your program files and deleting the yahoo file that’s there. Keep in mind this will also delete any saved archives. Then reinstall an older version until yahoo can get it working again.

And as Netti says, if its really bothering you, better to switch back to the stable release which is 6.0 until such time that this Beta gets out of being a Beta.

MemberYeah i just went back to the old messenger. I really thought it was just me having the problems cause all the friends i have that are using the Beta messenger are not having the problems i have. Hopefully they will get it corrected soon. I really like the Beta version.

ParticipantHey all I see I’m not the only one having this prob. My messenger shuts down when I close a conversation window. I get an error message saying yahoo has encountered a problem and needs to restart. My brother in law also has the new messenger and has never had a problem. We have different cable providers, does anyone know if this would make a difference?

Its basically how you use the Beta and how your system interacts with it. You might have a corrupt installation and your friend has a clean one, that results to the “crashing” of the messenger.
A good way to start is to have a clean, fresh install. Rebooting once uninstalling the Y!M you have now and after installing the fresh one somehow helps in minimizing those errors.

I did all that. I even went as far as using registry tool to find all yahoo entrys and deleted them too that way iknew i would have a clean install. I went back to messenger 6 untill a stable build of 7 comes out.

Memberthink i may have solved the problem. I actually un-installed mesenger, re-booted, went to programs files on my Pc and erased the yahoo folder, used a registry tool to clean out all yahoo refrences in my registry, and finally used systemmechanic to clean out all the junk files on my PC. The beta version of messenger seems to be working fine for now.
