I’m running MSN Messenger 6.2:
The problem started occurring about 2 weeks ago. Whenever the prompt that someone has added you appears and I choose to allow the person and error message comes up telling me that the contact cannot be unblocked. Also if I block someone on my contact list then try to unblock the contact the same error message appears. I tried going into options then privacy and moving a contact from block list to unblock the same error message appears. I also found that when I add a contact they are not put on my allow list as they used to be. I’ve tried on different computers on MSN Messenger, Windows Messenger, and Trillian and the error still occurs.
Can someone please help Me.

I already tried reinstalling. I guess I’ll just have to start a new account because I e-mailed MSN support and they don’t even seem to know what to do.
hi I am having same problem. is it because our contact list is more then 150 people please I will be thankful for this kind

No it has nothing to do with whether your contact list is full because you are not trying to add someone; you are trying to allow them to add you. I thought maybe there might be a limit on the number of contacts on your allow list but when I removed some I still had the same problem. I don’t think there is any known solution to this problem and I don’t think anyone can help other than MSN because it seems to be an account data problem rather than a software problem. And MSN support doesn’t seem to know the answer either because I have already inquired. So unless you want to wait around for a fix you might as well make a new account and the saving/importing contact list option makes it that much easier.

A: You can’t.so yes there is a limit. Unless you absolutely need MSN and everything, don’t be haste to make a new account. Many problems we hear about are problems that come and then go by themselves without us actually fixing anything.
Although…if this is a problem of them not being able to add you…being that they are not in your allow list…why not just uncheck the,
“Only people on my Allow List can see my status and send me messages” so that everyone can add you. Then you shouldn’t have to worry about MSN not allwing them to add you….unless you have done this already…i say its worth a try.EDIT: haha whoops! forgot to actually leave my “quote” in there
Yes, I had the same idea as you but it doesn’t seem to work after your account is affected by this error. And I did give it time… a few weeks at the least and the problem didn’t seem to fix itself as I hoped it would… anyways if anyone finds a fix or anything post it because it would be interesting to see what the problem actually was…
