Oh my gosh – now I see Google Talk has its own special place in our profiles (but not Gaim, PalTalk, Skype, InSpeak, Gizmo, etc !?).
Fine I guess… but…. I’d have thought much higher on prioroty list for a new category would be: Hardware/System.
I think this may have been suggested before, but seems to me an eminently sensible thing to allow people to show. (I’ve squeezed mine into “Biography” section in meantime!).
If I see someone has (or hasn’t) a problem with something, it can be very helpful to go to a central reference point to find what OS they use, and other such info.
The flaw in that idea is that most people don’t know their system well; some don’t know what they are running; some use multiple computers, and some don’t want to provide that information. I can’t really see it being all that useful. It would be cool to see Skype and other clients listed in the profile though.
Second that one.I long time ago I came across a forum, do not remember which one cuz I was searching for something and I notice the skype button.It is a good idea I have helped people on Trillian forum over skype and it is much better and faster than waiting for a reply Ok only when the problem is really complicated I have done this 😉
