Lately when I sign on I can view people’s profiles fine, but after a while they just stop working. It will just load and load and eventually say Unknown Error.
Then I realized when this happens I can’t send or receive messages, llike people will send me stuff but I won’t get it, or I will hit send to send a message to someone and it will not send.

It does sound like a networking problem in general, do you have a router at all Sagnats?
I used to/still do occasionally have that problem. The problem is you are losing connection with the AIM servers. If you sign off and sign on again it should go back to normal. What programs/hardware do you have that may affect your internet connection?
I have tried that; When it happens I will sign off, exit AIM completely, and try again. It will then work most of the time and stop working shortly after. I don’t run any programs that would effect my internet connection; I usually just have AIM, Kazaa Lite, and an Internet browser open…along with the things that are automatically on in the system tray…
I haven’t used smiley central, and yes, I did un-install AIM then re-install it, but to no avail.
It can get very annoying because I will see the Whoever is typing…forever and I will try to look at someone’s pro and it won’t come up, so then I know it isn’t working. So the person could be sending me messages and I won’t know it…AHHH!!!

is it possible there is a problem or back-up on AIM’s servers that is causing everyone problems???
