Last week I wrote a blog post about reviving BigBlueBall. If you read that post, I share my Google Analytics data going back to our peak in 2006, when we routinely had over half a million pageviews a month.
A lot has changed since back then, but I still think there is something to be shared here at BigBlueBall, and I’m committed to carving out four hours a week to see what I can do.
I’m not 100% sure where this is going, but my goal is to see if I can turn that curve back around. When I shared the blog post, it was interesting that I got responses on the blog itself, but even more on LinkedIn and Facebook. One of the recurring questions was “will it still be about instant messaging?”
This much I can say for sure: it won’t be about instant messaging. It’s just not something I’m passionate about, and frankly while there are new-ish IM clients out there (WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, etc.) it’s not worthy of a lot of time and attention. At least, not MY time and attention.
So to start with, I’ve taken the thousands and THOUSANDS of old forum discussions and moved them under a new Archive category. They are still there for a little organic Google juice (whatever that’s worth today), and for nostalgic trips down Memory Lane. But I don’t expect any new activity there.
That leaves the forums with four categories focused on topics where we are all looking to improve:
- Health
- Home
- Learning
- Wealth – Probably going to rename this to Money.
There’s a fifth forum called “Community” (you’re looking at it) for general discussion that doesn’t fit any of the other categories.
Any questions? Any suggestions or feedback? Lemme know!

“Home” is a confusing category name because it most often is used to take people to the homepage of a website, but I haven’t come up with a better descriptor yet.
