Perhaps there should be a stickied thread stating that if you have a problem with a booter or malicious person, you should contact Yahoo since no one on BBB has the authority or power to do anything about it.
It seems that there has been a ton of these threads lately. I would also add something in there about what to do when you’re locked out of your account since people don’t seem to have the capacity to actually search or read through other threads dealing with the same topics they are posting about. If there is an all-in-one sticky thread with and FAQ or links to previous threads that have delievered results on these subjects, we won’t (hopefully) see so much repitition.
I second that motion! I think it is a great idea!
IndyTone, have you tried posting this in the Yahoo topics? It would quickly be seen, and hopefully implemented quickly, too.
I will try to whip one up sometime today. Any additional suggestions for FAQ topics and related posts would help speed me along.
This was suggested before, but the post is probably deep under a lot of newer ones now in the Yahoo! forum.
Common are as above, plus the IP (how to get, is it safe….) which comes up all the time! (as you know).

Also, I would suggest flat out deleting topics that are duplicates of the information/questions in the proposed stickied thread. 1. They know how to read, 2. It’s lame for people to register and blindly post without taking two minutes to see if there is already a thread with a solution, 3. They will bitch about their thread being deleted (but you can just post a link to the FAQ), and 4. It will allow other non-repetitive questions to get some “air time”.
There’s more reasons than that, but I think they all fall into the common sense realm so I’m not going to post them all. (However, it seems that common sense is a rare commodity anymore.)
Here here, PLUS….maybe we should highlight certain features of the site…such as SEARCH….it just seems like people want someone else to do the work for them….Also, we seem inundated with questions about breaking into webcams, getting IP’s, invisible..just simple stuff that’ve been posted many times since I’ve joined. A simple search pops tons of posts up! Hope this helps.
Ok guys – Yahoo Messenger FAQ is up. Thanks for all the input. Let me know if you think anything else needs to be added.

You didn’t do the account locked for security reasons one;)
An answer such as:
Locked because multiple cracking attempts were made. Ban usually lasts between 12-48hrs, continually trying account could prolong ban. Go to http://login.yahoo.com/config/login and the first login will fail, second verifies its not a bot attempting more guesses (word verification system). If lasts more than 48hrs after, try contact Yahoo! at cc-advoc@yahoo-inc.com.

This has been discussed internally already and we decided this would not be a good thing to do for various reasons which I will not state here.

Accounts are also temporarily locked when you remove buddies via Yahoo IM and not the contacts site. I would add that.
how about bugs of Y! 5.6 and older versions of Y! Messenger… I think it is needed…
