Heres how its so simple even i didnt get it at first
The current drivers that are out for the PS2 Eyetoy can be modified so that they can be used for the PS3 eye as well. Of course it will require a modification of the following files which are
OV519
OV519AUD
OV519HUB
OV519CMD
OV519VID
OV519DIB.DLL
OV519EXT.DLL
OV519USD.DLL
OV519EXT.AXThere are others that require a modification but who ever it was that programed those files if they made the right modifications then the PS3 Eye can run on a pc.

I hope enough people contact that site from here and ask them if they can get some PS3 Eye Drivers out. I hope others can see the fairness and validation of my point which is that when you buy a PS3 webcam you should be able to use it on a PC instead of paying hundreads of dollars, pounds for a ps3 just to use it.I would also like to ask that any programer that is reading this would save a lot of people on here the trouble and get some drivers out there.
So until my next post folks im gaz saying take care.January 28, 2008 at 1:11 am #166320Jeff HesterKeymasterSo that have drivers for the PS2 webcam, but not the PS3? Gaz, have you asked the folks over at iPlayPlaystation if they’re already working on a version for the PS3 webcam?
January 28, 2008 at 2:25 am #166323DavidParticipantAre you suggesting that someone can just modify the driver a little bit, and its going to work? What do you base this on?
January 28, 2008 at 4:01 pm #166325AstrocatParticipantDavid look at the dll files open them in word you can see its been programmed to look for a certain chip right well if you edit that to look for the PS3 eyes chip instead it will pick it up and run right of the bat. Even when you plug it into your pc it detects its plugged in and if like me you know your way around windows you can get the exact chipset name on the camera.
January 28, 2008 at 5:06 pm #166321Jeff HesterKeymasterSo are you saying you made the modification to these DLLs and it worked?!
January 29, 2008 at 2:12 am #166324DavidParticipantUsing what program? Reshack? The possibility of such a modification–changing a string– to a binary library working, is quite slim. But if you have done this, why don’t you explain how? There is not any legality issue unless the copyrighted content (code/binaries in this case) is distributed, which a tutorial wouldn’t be doing.
I do hope you aren’t suggesting that you modified the DLL’s in Microsoft Word, and it still works… since that is not how DLL’s work. But if you did, can you paste the contents of the file copied from word here?
February 6, 2008 at 5:21 am #166326NeCromXMemberYea I don’t think this guy really knows how *.dll files work they don’t look like anything readable when opened in a text viewer except from the random string here and there. They can only be read that way before being compiled. If some one could tell me the chipset used in the PS3 eye I may be able to do it unless it 100% new and not used in anything else or if it is similar to a older sony chipset of a cam they made it may be possible also. I don’t think it would be similar enough to the PS2 eye toy to use those drivers as the PS3 eye is way more advanced.
October 1, 2008 at 4:49 am #166322Jeff HesterKeymasterIn case anyone is still interested, someone posted a working solution over at GetGamer: Turn your PS Eye into a working webcam.
Thanks for the tip, Fanatic!
