ParticipantI was just looking at the [ quote ] code, and was noticing something.
Is it possible to add in what you’re quoting instead of you writing it?
Example:Quote:quote:exampleIt says “Quote:” is there a way you can add in what your quoting, so it would say like, “Quote: detn8r”?
Or if it is already possible, and there is just a hidden tag?I know that this is possible with Invision, by using

MemberAnd in which way do you think this would improve BigBlueBall, detn8r? I don’t really see the value that this modification in the BBCode should add.

ParticipantWe dont all quote member’s posts. It would help if we were quoting a web site, to use it as the source, etc. Typing, source, or quote by, I find a work around, BUT was just woundering if it was possible.

Of course it is possible, but it still doesn’t strike me as something that is essential. Doesn’t the syntax that we use now for the Quote BBCode tag give you much more freedom?

ParticipantAll it’s using is the italicize tag. Obviously there is freedom in that, but personally doesnt add that peofessional look. Just MO.

ParticipantUm, it is a nice idea, but really not all that different from what there is in the code now. So I don’t see a point in changing it.

MemberNot to butt in, but… I am on detn8r’s side. If you look at my post here, https://bigblueball.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7868 you will see that I had to refer to who I was quoting. I had no way of putting the person i was going to quote beside
->quote:<- so the post ended up like this…Code:quote:George Bush
rather than…
quote: george bush
the quote here
🙂

i think thts true… its just italics… the thing which detn8r pointed with help of images ( the quote: bob one) is better way to represent… just my POV also…
