MemberI was just browsing through registry editor today to see how AIM stores different truth values and stuff (i.e. – HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareAmerica OnlineAOL Instant Messenger (TM)CurrentVersionUsers
IM, and changing the NoAcceptMsgDlg to a 1 instead of 0, or vice versa) and I came across two little folders under “…America OnlineAOL Instant Messenger (TM)CurrentVersion” called Recent IM ScreenNames and Recent ScreenNames, when I looked in Recent ScreenNames I saw 10 screen names that I’ve never seen before. I was wondering how exactly they came to be in my AIM registry, I couldn’t think of anything probable considering it’s in the AIM folder itself and not in Users. MemberWell I check out some of their profiles and they’re definatly not bots, atleast some of them. One screen name actually had a quote in it that my friend also had in her profile, so im going to ask if she knows the person with that s/n.

Memberimcoolihaveanx, you never let your friends sign onto AIM from your computer? If so, it would certainly explain why those screennames are there.

MemberMaybe I should refine my real question alittle bit more, I wasn’t trying to figure out who they are, just more or less how exactally they got there. What does AIM use them for? etc…

MemberOpen up a blank IM box and click the down arrow (it should be blank) this where your friend’s sn would normally be. Now you should see all those same “recent screennames” in that dropdown menu. It is all the people you last talked to.
