I just installed the new yahoo messenger and I was wondering how can I delete/uninstall the yahoo! mail option. I tried to do it from the add/remove but it wouldn’t remove it. Any help would be great… Thanks
Uninstall the entire program and do a custom install where you uncheck the mail feature, default homepage, toolbar, etc..
I did a custom install, unchecking everything but the extras were installed. Attempting to uninstall the mail feature does not do anything!
EDIT: Even if one does a custom install, Yahoo! force you to install their search engine on, it won’t let you to uncheck that box!
I also did the custom install and I still get mail feature and the other features that yahoo install even after to uncheck the options.
Yup, Yahoo! is being a bit lame on this one. When I uncheck a feature I do not want, it doesn’t mean install it anyway. It’s bad enough I have to clean out all 6 of there shortcut icons after install.
I used the ActiveX installer, as any windows user with IE will be defaulted too, and I chose custom install over typical, because I can do without that evil toolbar known as Yahoo! Toolbar.
Anyway, it let me untick all options ( http://www.helpbytes.co.uk/images/mess6/installFull3.png ) but the Yahoo! Mail Control still installed, just didn’t make its self default.
I don’t remember the installers being part of the beta, as it obviously has issues too, this would have been a good idea, Yahoo! have a good idea, then they go release this, which to be honest, aint good is it!
