Does it really need to be said? Don’t do this!
January 14, 2004 at 7:50 pm #51185OreoMemberSick DISGUSTING PERVERTS!!! I cannot believe that those things are allowed to happen. I am really glad that authorities are finally taking this into their hands. Personally, what I would tell my students (I teach HS) in this situation….it’s better to get the Virus (which all they would have to do is shut off the PC RIGHT AWAY and inform someone and they really would need to click on a link or something I would think to get the virus) than to take off their clothes for some SICK-O who gets off EXPLOITING minors. I hate to imagine if it were an even younger child whose parents weren’t watching…SICK SICK PEOPLE!
January 14, 2004 at 8:13 pm #51182magistykMemberI totally agree, how disgusting and perverted of someone. They either have too much time on their hands or cannot get a girlfriend the regular way. This guy should be put away in jail for a long time.
January 14, 2004 at 8:58 pm #51186DavidParticipantAlthough I do agree with Oreo and mag, I just need to say something:
Quote:quote:
During the conversation, the actor threatened to spread a computer virus to the victim’s computer if they did not remove their clothing in front of the computer Web cam. This victim wasn’t too bright was she? I mean really turn off the computer or disconnect the network/telephone line, if you are that ignorant and stupid; you should not be allowed to have a computer. These are the people that delete files “just to see what would happen”. I’m sorry, but that’s how I feel.
January 14, 2004 at 9:45 pm #51181detn8rParticipantI agree with you Dave. With this, parents should tell kids these things. Are parents loosining on computer and internet saftey when it comes to their children? I’m also woundering how old these kids were. Anyone under the age on 15 does not/should not use a web cam unless its chatting with friends they personally know, or family.
January 14, 2004 at 10:56 pm #51190collaredtoy2002MemberI am sorry, I watch my sons when they are on the pc. They are not even allow to use the cam unless I am sitting right next to them and I know who is on the other end. They are not even allowed to down load anything unless I say it is alright. If the kids were smart enough they would of said no, wrote down the id of the person, shut off the pc, and turn it back on, and report this person. I am sorry I go into the adult rooms and I see kids 12-17 in there I put them on iggy and that is it. Some partents do not watch their kids anymore because it to much time out of their day. Those partents needed to put an password on the pc when they are gone so the kids can not get on pc. That person just turns my stomach and those kids should not been on cam in the first place in a chat room if that is where they were.

Parents seem not to care, and obvisouly this is proof.
January 15, 2004 at 4:07 am #51183magistykMemberQuite correct actually, parents don’t seem to care to monitor their kids and then they are filing law suits on companys and/or people when something happens to the kids. This is like a kid going into a bar with a very good fake id, getting drunk and then the parents blaming the bartender.

I feel sorry for your kids. That is just too much. Not that I am here to tell you how to raise your kids, but let them live, man!
January 27, 2004 at 10:17 pm #51184tangledlisaMemberI’m thinking quite the opposite Fimus – I think Collaredtoy’s children are extremely lucky to have a concerned parent. More parents who watch what their kids do.. less we have to read about articles like these.
February 3, 2004 at 10:11 pm #51191neilaniaMemberI WAS INTERESTED TO NOTE,
How many respondents here assumed that the children were ‘FEMALE’… where’s the real world.
I have had several good contacts over the years with children in chat rooms, most are adults now, I have two chat friends that are children that I im with on a regular basis both females one is sixteen the other thirteen one is a ward of an associate the other I have and will probably never meet as she lives in another state. We have a good internet relationship, healthy and communicative, I try to be wise and nurturing as far as advice when these children ask for it. I feel it’s my duty as an older person to feel responsible in offering respect to a young generation that are total strangers, I know that I get it back. Now this may be rather unique, but I certainly hope it isn’t.
P.S. One young man he was ten years old a few short chats and he said ” your the coolest Gran I’ve ever met” ha ha meaning just typed to of course. I’d hope that all older people can enjoy children who’s ever they are.
NeilaniaFebruary 27, 2004 at 6:05 pm #51189IMQueenMemberThat’s just wrong. I hope that dude’s put away for a long time. The kids’ parents should’ve taught them what to do. Just get out of the chat. If parents would teach their kids coping skills, they wouldn’t have to snoop on them and sue websites etc. Kids can be responsible if they’re taught to be.
March 2, 2004 at 10:48 pm #51192kurbside517MemberI’m with Im… If parents would tell their kids whats right and whats wrong there would be a lot less incidents like this. The kids would understand that it’s not right to talk to these people.
March 3, 2004 at 9:58 pm #51187FimusMemberYou know what? Why not just learn more of the NET than what’s “right or wrong”… Grrr If someone doesn’t know that in order for them to have a connection established the modem has to be connected. Disconnect the modem, damn. Parents should teach coping skills, but that only takes common sense.
March 9, 2004 at 1:56 am #51193ShadowcrestMemberIt’s really sad this crap goes on. Stupid, perverted, [/b]NEWBS.
Love that bold tag. >:O -
