MemberMany people have come to the forums posting about some issues they are having with their AIM profiles containing a message that is linked to a trojan/virus. This message that appears in your profile cannot be removed until the downloaded trojan is removed from your computer.
Symptoms include but are not limited to:
– “Whoa….look what I found, click here”
– “I can’t believe I found ‘yourScreenName’ Picture here”
– “Happy Holidays Everyone!! New Years 2003 Partayy!”How did I get this trojan on to my computer??
Most likely you clicked a link on a webpage or in another user’s profile that automatically downloaded the virus without you knowing it. Don’t worry or feel stupid about this, a lot of people have been infected.Information on how to remove this trojan automatically and manually are available from jayloden.com. Please read the website thoroughly in order to remove the trojan properly.

MemberI have been looking for a solution to a virus(trojan or whatever it is) on my AIM. The following text is always in my away message and links to “http://www.percentn.com”: “The time is now.The time here. %n’s journal. I came. I saw. I conquered.” How do I get rid of this nuisance, I have noticed that similar types of problems have been solved in the past(realphx.com, etc.). Does anyone know how to solve this? Thanks.

WoahWoah! Stop!
Don’t go to that site unless your version of IE is patched and your running Anti-Virus software, otherwise you’ll get it again.

MemberA lot of people. I’m sure if I didn’t read that it was adware I would’ve clicked on those links too. A lot of AIM users out there have no idea what those links are. Also, most users have no idea about add-ons such as DeadAIM, Middle_Man, AIMutation, etc and other programs for AIM. Most of them just use AIM to chat with their friends.

MemberI have a question. I received this virus, only it was saying, Look osama has been captured, look at this: then it had a link to some site, which I assume, like the other trojan droppers, forces the viewer to download the virus. After searching for minutes, I found the *known issues* info on aim.com, and succesfully got rid of the virus.
However….
Since then, I am having another problem and I have not been able to find help anywhere, so I am hoping someone has some ideas or maybe has had the same issue and solved it.
I can log on to AIM just fine.
I can talk to people just fine.
In fact, everything is fine…..until….When I direct connect, I can still talk to the person and receive images and files through the buddy window. However, once I myself paste and send an image, the person not only does not see the image, but no longer can see me sending messages to him unless we close direct connect. I have tried loggin on other usernames, and it’s the same thing. I asked my friend to log onto my other name from his computer, and it worked fine that way. This didn’t start happening until I got the dropper, and even after I got rid of it, I tried reinstalling AIM after uninstalling and still, to no avail. Well, if anyone has any help to offer I would be most apprecaitive. Thanks.
EDIT: Come to find out, I still have it, and I have done every method I can find on the net to get rid of it. Everytime I logged on, it would send the link via Instant Message, “Check This Out http:// wgutv.com/osama_capture.php?GiBi” (I seperated it so people wont click it)
Anyways, I have been searching high and low, read bout the other forms of this virus, haven’t heard a thing about “osama” so someone please help me if you have info to get this off!!!
