February 23, 2004 at 12:48 am #50960OoPinkoOMemberA couple of months ago I was infected with the “Happy Holidays 2003” AIM virus. Well, to try and get rid of it I signed off and on the sign on screen I highlighted my s/n and hit delete. Then I typed my s/n in, logged in, and was then able to delete the link out of my profile. I don’t know if this works for everyone though because my friend tried it and said that it didn’t work…I don’t know why it would’ve worked for me though and no one else.
March 21, 2004 at 5:24 pm #50968kman25MemberThe Following is for the virus “Happy Holidays Everyone!! New years 203 Partayy!! or I cant believe I found ‘Yourscreenname’ ‘s picture here!!! or various others.
I found a way to get rid of these viruses…..It is a little shorter than most ways. First run your Computer in safe mode. (do this by restarting your computer, then as soon as you turn it back on, repeatedly press F8, F8, F8…..until a menu shows that has safe mode, safe mode with networking, start in normal mode, etc….choose Safe Mode or Safe mode with networking…then hit enter and your pc will start in safe mode.) Now head into My computer once in safe mode. Go into C Drive. Now Open the Windows folder. It will say to click a link to show the contents of the folder. Click it. Now scroll down a bit and there will be a file called ‘av’ or ‘av.exe’ Right Click it , and select Delete. It will send it to the recycle bin….Now go to the recycle bin and Empty it out. Now restart your cpmputer. It will start up in Normal Mode. Now go into AIM, go into change your profile, and delete evrything in it. The virus is gone!!!!! Have fun making your profile!!

September 17, 2004 at 5:26 am #50971jaycrossMemberI’d like to see a small AIM plugin that alerts the user whenever an application or plugin tries to add code to AIM and change the way it functions. This way, if the next BuddyLinks tries to install itself to AIM after claiming to be a video of a terrorist leader being captured, the user is at least given some kind of warning.
