June 11, 2005 at 4:55 pm #124098chikenkickerMemberits possible cause i did it with and older 5.9 version and i’ve seen screenshots of peoples signon screens with it gone, i just dont remember how to do it
June 11, 2005 at 6:40 pm #124095Jeff HesterKeymasteryou need Resouce Hacker (http://www.users.on.net/johnson/resourcehacker/, freeware). You’ll have to do some hunting in AimRes.dll for the dialog that contains the AIM signon screen. Just make sure you backup AimRes.dll (in the default AIM directory) before you get started.

June 12, 2005 at 12:56 am #124096Jon8RFCMemberUsing your favorite hexeditor (my favorite), open up osclogin.ocm.
Do an ASCII search for StringFileInfo, and make sure you capitalize the S F and I, or else it won’t be found.
When you’re there, after that text (keep looking at the ASCII part, not hex part) there will be some numbers and characters. Change one of those ASCII values to something else and save.
I’ve highlighted the characters, and you only need to change one. The offset might be different depending on your version of AIM. For this screenshot, the version of AIM was 5.5.3599. I think all that’s being done is giving an incorrect location, so changing one value to something else should do the trick…I changed 4 different ones and it worked each time.
Doing this will remove BOTH the “version:” text and the actual version number. No reshacking in aimres.dll necessary.
