Resetting Screen Name

Hey…okay, I have a question(obviously!). We canceled our AOL account, and now it will not let me sign onto AIM using my screenname. I always use AIM at school, but now it says that my screenname cannot be used until we resign up for AOL. Does anyone know a way around this? I didn’t know this would happen, and I lost my buddy list and all of my settings…

I don’t think there is hope for getting the screen name back. I believe the only way is to resign-up for AOL, set that user as the Master account, then cancel AOHELL.

There might be hope for your buddy list though. If you saved a copy (in *.blt format) you can just load it up, but if you haven’t, you need to find your userinfo.bag located in Application DateAimSCREEN NAME, and that’ll be under (95/98/Me): C:Windows, (NT2kXP2k3): C:Documents and SettingsWINDOWS USER. Replace C: with your System drive if it’s not C:

defintely hope for your buddy list. you can navigate to “buddies recently talked to” or somethign of that nature in the registry….should be able to find some of your buddies there…… hope that helps….can you jstu use one of those 1000 hours free of AOL disks….and then do it that way…..?
