I’ve just been HUGELY impressed by this ex-(?)member’s posts – and wonder if there’s any way to (gently ;)) prod him to come back and contribute more here ?Seems he came with a (YM) problem back in Sep 04 (3 posts) ….. then another separate topic in Dec 04 (1 post).
But nothing since. 🙁

MemberThe link you gave doesn’t work.
As for the issue raised, perhaps it wouldn’t harm to send this user an email pointing him back in the right direction – but we have to remember that we don’t know his exact reasons for not being online, and for so long, chances are the email address he supplied is now redundant.
Also, we don’t want to seem like a school, where if you don’t attend, letters get sent home, and such. Attendance here isn’t compulsary! That’s my take anyway…
Oh…and it’s fairly normal for alot of people to join to only ask for one specific problem solving – I’ve done it with other forums.

MemberHowever exemplary their posts are, that was nearly two years ago, and just because you were digging around in the archives and found someone like this doesn’t necessarily mean we should bug them. Like Martin said, it’s their choice to come here or not. I’m sure there are many other people like madfigs, you just haven’t come across them yet.

KeymasterIt’s always easier to get someone to return and get involved again than it is to get someone new interested.
I think it’s a GREAT IDEA when you find some good posts from an otherwise inactive member to send them a message, thanking them for their excellent participation in the past and inviting them to come back. I know if I were personally contacted by one of the dozens of forums that I’ve joined (but am not active at) I would be highly motivated to return and see what’s new.
Ian, if you’d like to send them an email, register_register2002@yahoo.it is what we have on file.

MemberJust for the record, I DID email this guy.
As expected though, no reply.
Oh well, I feel better having tried anyway. 🙂 -
