There’s someone bugging me in the yahoo users rooms… I think he’s been messing up with Yahoo’s servers… He’s been doing something to my room that make Yahoo Messengers report that the said room is full even though there are only a handful of us in the room…
He’s been bragging all over the users room that he can close down any room he wants to…
Does anyone here know how to undo or prevent him from doing it?
What’s odd though is…. only YMessengers are barred from entering the room since it gets a full room warning… other chat clients like yahelite is not affected…Update: now even the chat client report that the room is full… even though there’s only one user in the room
February 19, 2004 at 12:55 pm #49564calvinMemberI guess you’re all stumped too huh… my post has been viewed at least 20 times and yet no one seems to have any idea as to what has been going on… I was thinking, maybe this guy works for Yahoo and somehow wants to or wishes to lord over the users room…
February 19, 2004 at 2:14 pm #49567zhugeliangMemberI doubt he works for Yahool, though he could, it wouldn’t be too far fetched. However, I have been doing research on it and so far, I’ve come up with nothing. I’ve checked all the popular/famous “hacker” sites and have come up with absolutely nothing. The only thing I can say is that he has either hacked into the servers, or there’s a new program running around in the underground, and no one’s being very open about it. I’ll start monitoring the “hacker” rooms in Yahoo and making logs of what’s said in there, and I’ll also worm around in IRC to see if i can find anything, but i wouldn’t get your hopes up. It could also be that he’s made something himself, and isn’t going to share it with anyone. Right now, I don’t know what to tell you. But i do have a question for you, what room is he doing it to, I’ld like to check and see what’s going on, if you don’t mind, maybe it’ll help at getting to the bottom of this.
February 19, 2004 at 2:52 pm #49563calvinMembersent you an e-mail… if you’re online now, he just locked the room again
February 21, 2004 at 11:11 am #49568zhugeliangMemberI’m sorry calvin, but I didn’t get the e-mail you sent me, if you want you can send it to me through my yahoo, even if I’m offline I’ll get it as an offline message, just let me know who you are, or you can try and send it to my email again.
February 21, 2004 at 11:16 am #49562calvinMemberif you’re online now, he’s “locked” the room again… I’ve left one of my SN’s in the room…
I’ve found a work around though as long as there is still one user in the room… that anyone can get in the room as long as they get in the room using the “/join” command…
it seems that it only blocks Y Messenger users (I used yahelite and another ID to join the room and it was able to do so)
someone told me that he could be spoofing the room with bots and filling them up… but we’ve proven this is not so since anyone can join in as long as they use “/join ROOM NAME” command… but if you use the “join room” pop up window you get the full room warning…
wierd huh…
February 21, 2004 at 11:53 am #49566zhugeliangMemberYes, I’ld say that is rather weird. Oh well, glad you found a workaround.:D Glad to see you trying different things till you found something that works, keep up the good work. 🙂
February 21, 2004 at 12:00 pm #49565calvinMemberI’m not going to give this guy the satisfaction… by giving up easily
If he wants to bug me… I’ll bug him even more 🙂
I just hope that yahoo fix this obvious bug fast… my friends and I have reported the incident to yahoo… all we can do for now is wait…
