This New topic, is not really that new 😀 as last year I posted about it too. This upcomming Friday is Saint Jorge, San Jorge or, in catalan, Sant Jordi.
In Spain, it is the “Day of the Book”. This cultural day acquires a different meaning in the region of Cataluña, where it becomes “The Day of Love” as well.
The tradition, as I explained last year, is to get the guys you love (being special friends, relatieves or boyfriend) a book. In return, the guy must give you a rose. Latelly, guys realized girls liked to read also, so it is becoming more normal to get a book along with the rose (thank god!!). I think is a beautiful tradition that not only promotes reading, but is a symbol of love, without all the commercial implications of St. Valentine.
Just a simple rose and a book are given in St. Jordi the meaning of true caring and love that they should always have. A day when every pure love is expressed in the same way, making no distinction between the poor and the wealthy.

Hasan provides Natalia with a rose and book 😛
Ehem…thanks Hasan!!! Actually, I got a real bunch of Red Roses from an unknown sender!!, along with a Teddy Bear.
Isn´t that romantic? Of course I know who was it,but I won´t tell (Shhhhh…). Then I got a single rose from my boyfriend…no books though.
I am happy, happy, happy!!!

Natalia, sounds like a beautiful tradition, and it apparently worked out well for you!
I’m surprised it hasn’t been adopted over here in the U.S. — we love a good holiday.
