MemberHi… I have been wondering which is better than the other… Alot of people have SBC Yahoo! Because of the price but it’s only a 12 month contract so after 12 months it raises alot… I heard the speeds on SBC were mediocre… The support ain’t that great… The bad thing I don’t like about SBC Yahoo! is that they have to add the SBC browser which add’s more stuff to your computer that you don’t need…
Next up is Comcast… Great speeds… they stay steady and I use it, ahaha… Their support is great and the technicians come on time… which was incredible because most people don’t come on time… I have been using it for almost a year now and it has been great… Speeds stay around 3000 kb/s and no lower… and they don’t add any extra software to the computer… My mom was thinking of switching to SBC but I said no because after 12 months the price is going to be higher than Comcast which is true… So… tell me which one you think is better… If you have to look it up on google or something it’s fine with me… but my choice would be Comcast… Straight up Comcast

MemberWell, given the evidence you have supplied in your post, definately Comcast. There isn’t really a contest, going by what you’ve said.

ParticipantIf you have a LAN, you don’t need to install the SBC software, you can enter the PPPoE information in the router configuration.
I’d go with Comcast (I have Cox), and don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t, it won’t save you anything because you still need the modem anyway.

MemberI think Comcast is better too. I’m using Comcast, and it’s really fast, the support is pretty good, etc. etc. Plus, Cable is usually faster than DSL.

MemberYeah sbc dsl speeds are what, half of what comcast’s is right? I use comcast too and occasionally it goes out. In rare cases its taken a few hours to go back on. Their support is alright, haven’t really had a problem with them. Although alot of people hate comcast.
If its going to cost you more for something thats half the speed don’t even bother. You’ll probably have to install dsl filters and all that crap too. Stick with what works unless you can get a better deal somewhere else.

Memberyea I told my friend (who has sbc yahoo) to take an internet speed test, his download rate was 410 kb per sec. while mine (comcast) had 1.1 mb per sec. and I took the test while I was downloading many things, so it would have been much higer anyways. Honestly there shouldn’t even be a question about this, comcast all the way.

MemberWell, if you live close enough to the SBC phone company office (local one), I would go with DSL. While it may not be as fast on the download, you will have a much better upload speed.
If you are close enough to the office, go with DSL, if not, Comcast. Comcast will give you fast speeds no matter what, but your upload won’t be as fast as it could be with DSL.
They both are still faster than 56K…by a long shot…

Membersince when would you care what your uploading? downloading is more important.

MemberI’ve been using Comcast for almost four years and have had little to no problems. I’d recommend comcast. Almost everyone I know uses it.

Well, if you can get the same speed for downloads on DSL because you live close to the office, and faster speeds with uploads, for $10 less a month, would you still go cable? I sure wouldn’t.
And uploads are pretty important to me…512K up beats 128 or 256 up you get with cable…

They won’t be conquering anything, there are anti-trust laws in this country that break up monopolies.
They don’t have my TV, or my phone, just my internet. Besides, satellite is wayyy better than digital cable ever was– and who uses landlines anymore for phones? :p
