I started yahoo today and i got a message that there is a new security patch that must be downloaded immediately, but I am on super paranoid mode right now…
Has everyone got this? Did they download it and all is well?
I clicked it and all is fine. Something like that comes from Yahoo then its ok. But yeah dont just do something you get from hear-say. Good to not trust anything other then what comes from the actual site.
This particular patch fixes a buffer-overflow vulnerability in the voice chat. It should stop many of the boots that were possible when in chat rooms with voice, or even in individual voice chats.
If you never use this functionality, it might not make much difference to you.
uhhhh i told everyone to get it yesterday. a full 4 hours b4 yahoo made it public…..
the security update page will detect if you need the update. http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mesg/use/use-45.html
f your yahoo messenger security update fails. please return to this page http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mesg/use/use-45.html scroll to the bottom and click the update link
