MemberWhen upgrading to newer versions of messenger, I typically delete the set- up and download file for anything previous. Now I could kick myself for having done so.
I’m desperate to find a copy of the final 7.2 version, released in February 2006.
Searches on google have proven fruitless as they automatically switch me to the newest beta download.
Would anyone out there have retained a copy? I’d be ever so grateful.
Keeping my fingers crossed,
Isa

MemberThank you Eagle. I had seen that site and unfortunately they don’t have the roll out I was looking for.
Gosh I love the BBB!!!! Everyone here is so helpful!!!!! I only wish I could return the favour. It seems all I do is pose questions….but someday, maybe, I’ll be able to assist someone too.
In the meantime, thank you for allowing me to be part of this wonderful community.

I could not find the 7.2 I did however come across the 7.0 which is the one I am using and to be honest never had any trouble with it at all.

MemberIsa, I’ve never heard of a 7.2 – are you sure you’re not looking for the wrong thing, or something that never existed !?? (Could it be 7.0.2.120 you’re remembering ?)
7.0.0.437 came out about Nov/Dec 05, then 7.0.2.120 about Feb 06, and the various 7.5 Betas started around January, I think.
To my way of thinking those last 5 or 6 shown on FileHippo are the only ones ever made public.May 14, 2006 at 1:22 am #144078XP1

Member7.0.2.120 is the best version out in my opinion also, works well with the last version of y tunnel also. Unfortunately it is available only via Hackers Sites. I am just wondering why yahoo hides it on us, and wants us all to dowload the its latest version only?…The one what is very user unfriendly, plus shows your IP with a simple netstat to everybody.
Also,I heard the user rooms will be reinstated…Is it true?…would be good to contain the riff-raff there again. 400 rooms in every category and real people crammed into a few rooms like at wartimes…Ridicolous…June 7, 2006 at 12:22 pm #144077Eagle_Kiwi
MemberWelcome to the ‘Ball, Silhouette. 🙂
I figure Yahoo don’t support/offer 7.0.2.120 for exactly the same reason as Microsoft don’t have anthing to do with W95 these days – simply, they want/need to MOVE ON, and not forever be looking backward, trying to maintain support for old versions.
And hey, it’s a bit harsh calling FileHippo and FreeCreed etc “hackers’ sites” !? but I guess I know what you mean – they are NOT (as far as I know) official or authorised distributors.
But I guess it’s them or nothing, if you’re not happy with the “latest” YM.
I hope Yahoo are devoting all their energies to fixing and improving this latest one, rather than still spending time on superseded versions.I personally, like many, have no big problem with YM 7.5, but sure I hear of a substantial minority who do have many various issues. Perhaps Yahoo should back off all the NEW features just a tad, and try remedying some more of the current issues ?

MemberEagle is correct – A current email i got concerning an issue (problem), Yahoo customer support stated they were trying to improve the newer versions and that some of the problems currently with the newer version, was that it didnt work well with older versions.
They did this on purpose to try and get people to all go to the newer versions. So they could retire the older versions.
So many of the current problems people are having are because the people who downloaded the newer versions are still trying to chat and cam etc… with those yet to upgrade. and you know that makes sense.
They said the more people who upgrade the less likely you are to have problems because they can not keep working in the past.
I have gotten nearly everyone on my friends list to upgrade and well there are no big problems with these contacts but many with those still using older versions.
As for chat rooms, well I just don’t go there so I have no comment.
