Either a local user or a hacker has installed a command in my computer that is attaching a note with a ZIP file, in portuguese language, of my photo file and other stuff I can’t identify to every new screen a contact opens to communicate with me. It appears under my username as though I am sending it to them. The files continue to change names but I only opened the original one, thinking I was being sent pictures, so I don’t know if content changes. I am not certain they are only attaching to MSN Messenger; possibly to Yahoo messenger as well but so far Messengers are the only thing seemingly affected. So far no one but me has opened it.

Firstly, NEVER open a link that even a “friend” may appear to send you in an IM program, unless you are expecting it from them – as this sort of online “forgery” is rife!
That over with, I must ask the obvious question:- Since this first occurred, have you given your PC a thorough check with up-to-date anti-virus and anti-spyware programs – to hopefully find and eliminate this problem ?
Thanks, cobber: Coincidentally this message first appeared when a screen was opened by a woman in Peru whom I had asked for pictures and I didn’t notice either that it was under my username or wasn’t in her language – spanish – but was in Portugese. I jumped too quickly to open the link and unzip.
I had run Spybot Search and Destroy and found only some cookies which I deleted. I thought I’d also run AVG Anti-Virus but had actually only run a virus update. I just now completed a virus search and found 4 files in which Trojan horses had been installed, including two foto.exe files with generic Downloader 2.W, and two PSWBanker 2.4QB in other system files. I hope by correcting those files I’ve eliminated the problem.
If you are a very long-time Dunedin resident you might remember the USS Brough that visited there numerous times, with me aboard in l958. My best cobber was (and is) Graeme Pearson. I fell in love with 4 or 5 sheilas while there (or maybe it wasn’t love).

And yes, I well remember the USS Brough (pronounced Bruff, wasn’t it?), along with USS Petersen, USS Calcaterra, and many others over those years.
