i like trillian because i can talk to all my budies in on prog (msn, icq…) but when i try to send a file the sending don’t start i get the window with file size and so but it stays on 0 procent 🙁 anybody the same problem or a solution ?
January 7, 2003 at 6:51 pm #65197twistedmetalMemberIt probably says that because your friend on the other end didnt accpet to download the file. Try giving it a few seconds, or minutes, as I found sending files thru trillian to msn takes a lil bit for the other party to even know that you are even sending them something.

You are behind a router, LAN or firewall, which all need configuring for outgoing transfers (and other direct incoming connections) to work.
January 8, 2003 at 8:14 am #65196rustedtightMemberSnake,
It is also possible that your friend is using a firewall that you are not.
Determine what is different between these computers.January 9, 2003 at 5:43 pm #65199Snake pliskenMemberi don’t think thats the problem because when if i use msn i can send the files to the same friend it’s really a trillian problem are there that can send files with trillian to msn users (who us msn not trillian) ???? normally trillian uses the same ports as msn or am i wrong ?
January 10, 2003 at 5:09 am #65201ShadowloverMemberI’ve had this problem with Trillian as well, with MSN and the AIM mediums. My problem was that both I and the person I was attempting to exchange files with were behind one or more hardware firewalls. If you have a cable/DSL modem or a router, you more than likely have a firewall that you may not know about. In order to redirect the traffic that my DSL modem AND router were “throwing away,” I had two choices.
1) Designate my computer’s IP as a DMZ (not recommended)
2) Perform a command line “netstat -n” before and after attempting to send a file, finding which of the entries is the file transfer (it’s the new one that wasn’t there before), and setting that port and a range of about 10 on either side just to be safe to be redirected to my computers IP on the LAN. I set the modem to acknowledge the router as a DMZ so the router would have some data to work with.Hope this helps.

January 15, 2003 at 9:48 am #65202PorcupineMemberI just tried. My MSN account in Trillian and sent a file to a friend who uses msn-messenger.
File got transferred without problems.
Trillian has the standard port in it’s msn-messenger file transfer (6891).If you have problems due to firewalls or whatever, perhaps you can try to use more common ports like port 20 or 80. These are often open because 20 is used for ftp and 80 for http/www traffic.
Good luck. -
