MemberIt did the same thing to me as well yesterday around 6 pm ! I don’t understand because I’ve tried to log on with other accounts and there seems to be no problem ! I’ve been trying this morning and I’m still receiving the same message:
Signing into MSN Messenger failed because the service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later. 81000314.
I’m going crazy :crying: because my same hotmail account is working ! I’ve been having this same account since I can’t remember, I hope my contact is still there..
If anyone knows anything about that error please reply !!! It might happen to anyone..
Peace:)October 23, 2005 at 3:48 pm #123240VoiceofBetty

MemberFyi, my primary MSN account is still down after 24 hours, and my other MSN account just went down too. 🙁
Just as mentioned in one of the earlier posts, one of the error messages has turned from 81000314 to 81000378 (“You cannot use MSN Messenger at this time because your contact list is not available.”)
This seems to be affecting quite a number of people and has nothing to with service availability or the general software problem associated with 81000314.
If anyone hears of a solution and/or news related to this problem, please let us know!

MemberI am getting the same error. Steps I have taken which dont work are.
completely unistalling software, directories and left over reg keys and reinstalling. Registering all .dll files with the link provided in this forum as well as manually. Shutting other software off on startup. Repairing IE. Just about everything except the kitchen sink. I think Microsoft needs to provide us with a link to an older working version of messengerOctober 23, 2005 at 6:53 pm #123236greentruck
MemberI was thinking it may have been a virus of some sort, but I scanned for viruses and nothing was found. So it isn’t that.

ParticipantTry This if you are dial up. Go to add/remove programs, see if “msn dial up accelerator” has been installed. Remove it and re-start pc. I did not install it as I removed this once a couple years back due to conflict issues with other bulletin boards. Tried this at 9:00 a.m. AZ time, now 5:28 p.m. AZ Time. Problem appears solved. Hope this helps.
