How can I make My computer turn off automatically when windows shuts down? I’m pretty sure it’s possible. :rolleyes:
Oh yeah, and I got XP.
I think it depends on your OS. When I had Windows 98, I had to hit the button after it said it was OK. May have something to do with your power supply though. What happens when you try to shut down? Does it just sit there and wait to be turned off?
Oh, yeah I’m not to sure. It most likely has something to do with the features of your motherboard or power supply. Someone else might be able to help you, but I don’t think you can do anything about it.
i dont know about the desktops ( since I only hv the laptop ), but on laptops go to control panel, then power options, then advanced and then there is something like “When I press the power button on my computer” then just choose shut down.. It works for me. I dont know if you have the same option for the desktops.

This only talks about what the computer should do when you press the power button. As a matter of fact, if AwesomeSauce would put it to ‘Shutdown’ when he presses the power button, it would still ask him to turn of his computer.
What you have to do is enable APM (Advanced Power Management). You can most likely do this in ‘Power options’ of the ‘Control Panel’, but it could be that you need to install a driver and/or support for it.
