I have the latest version of AIM..Windows 98SE. 128RAM. When I sign on I minimize my screen. Then when I sign off I click on the bottom stray on sign off. The sign on screen comes back on for me to sign on again. It used to not do that. Before this problem when I sign off I minimize the screen then sign off on the tray bottom of the screen it signs off without the sign on screen. This started when they started the mail thing. Anyone having this kind of problem?
There should be an option on the menu ‘Exit’, that closes the client, not just signs you off. Is that what you are looking for?
No, but I try to click on Exit the sign on screen comes up to sign me be back on I have to click on X. It used to sign me off completely, but now it doesn’t this problem started after they did the mail thing and after I disable the mail that’s when the problem started. Hope this make sense.
No, that doesn’t make sense. I don’t understand what you are trying to do. Do you want to sign off or exit AIM completely? There are two seperate buttons on the systray menu for this. Sign-off will bring you back to the sign-on dialog, where Exit will sign you off and close the program.

as Dave said, there are two options when you sign off – right click the icon in the tray by the clock, and you’ll get a menu. one option is EXIT; this will completely exit the program after signing you out of AIM. the other is SIGN OFF; this will sign you off of AIM, but leave the program running so that you can change to a different screenname or let someone else use it.
Whenever I click on sign off or Exit the sign on reapears back. It used to not do that. It used to sign off completly. This problem started I believe when they had the email thing started.
That’s strange. I don’t have a real solution for you, but in order to exit AIM you can open the task manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and move to the processes tab. the process is called ‘aim.exe’ and can safely be ended.
That’s kind of a hassle, so what you can do is create a new file on your desktop called end_aim.bat, and in the file place this line:
taskkill.exe /F /IM aim.exe
Save it and double-click it, AIM will fully end.
I have the AIM icon on the desktop when I double click on that it will not automatically sign on. I have to type my password there. If that’s what you meant by “taskkill.exe /F /IM aim.exe”. If not then I have no idea what you meant. I forgot to mention I have an older version of AIM on my laptop and I have no problems there. I try to uninstall the late version and install it and still no luck, but the taskkill.exe /F /IM aim.exe and bat file kind of confuses me. I hope this make sense.
