MemberI was just wondering… I have most of the Sims 1 series, and I was wondering if the 2nd version (Sims 2) is worth the cost. Should I keep playing the 1st version, or upgrade to the Sims 2? Is it as fun as the original? More fun? Should I also get the University expansion pack? *** Please, I want opinions only from people who have played the original versions and the Sims 2, for a better outlook. Thanks to anyone who offers a reccomendation! 😀

MemberSIMS2 is very SIMiliar (hee hee hee) to the first. The graphics are by far better and you can play with various pre-made families (many from the first one all grown up and you see how their lives are turning out). I don’t know about the expansion pack, seeing as I left university (YIKES…has it been five years already *SNIFF*) some years back it does not really interest me. I have the game and it works really well on our PC with the Geforce 6800, but it still works on my 2 year old laptop…though not as well. Make sure your graphics card is up to snuff or you might experience some jumpy game play and some freezing then crashing. Other than that…it is still the same old fun…you can still create your own families. (Though I must say I miss the days when you could d/l skins of comics like Spiderman and such. It was fun to have the Green Goblin [my fav. character from Spiderman], Spidy himself, Austin Powers and Ricky Martin hot tubbing together with who ever else was around.) That’s about it though…if you know some one with the game, ask if you can play it for an hour or two…you’ll know then.

KeymasterI own both The Sims, and The Sims 2 and I’m glad I bought The Sims 2. It definitely is a refreshing game to play. The gameplay is pretty much the same as The Sims. You can reach a certain career point and earn the most you can, but to add to the fun there is a new thing called aspirations, and of course there is the fun in interacting with other Sims especially now that more actions are available which look really fluid. You can also download items and skins from The Sims 2 website.
I find the game a lot more appealing than the first one especially because of the nice graphics and the ability to choose the facial details of your sim. I don’t get to play the game that much but it’s a game you can just pick up and play when you’re bored or just to pass time. It’ll really pull you in. I say you should get it unless the first Sims bored you quickly. I’m gonna be getting the expansion pack sometime. For a more professional and detailed review you can go to the following:

ParticipantI got the sims 2 pretty close to when it came out, I lost interest VERY quickly.
I used to be addicted to the sims 1 but this one, graphics are good but I have to say I like to cheat and there are no ways to make your own objects or “hacks”. Like that espresso machine or the fruitcake.March 28, 2005 at 3:10 am #116637AwesomeSauce
ParticipantThere ARE cheats, but I think they are a little different. And I’m not sure if there’s a way to make your own items.
I’d have to say that The Sims 2 is a beautifully made game. Great graphics, so many more options. Your sims can get fat if they don’t excersise, and one of my sims is actually getting acne on his face. 🙂

ParticipantWell there are money cheats but I mean to make all your bars green. You can purchase something but it only works when your…Gold? or platinum and it only works for 5 times then it’s useless. And you go all red if your in the red/green.

Memberwow a 6800 for the Sims 2, I think that spells overkill right there..
I can’t win at either of the Sims, but when a burgler came into my sims house, and there was no bash the f*ck out of burgler with chair option, I kinda lost interest in the game as he walked out with my sims tv.
EDIT: and oh yea, it’s not hard to hack the Sims 2, all you need is a disassembler and a memory searcher
