KeymasterWell the game itself comes with it, unless you got it by other means…But anyways here is where you can get DirectX 9.Oc. Enjoy. 🙂

KeymasterThe Sims 2 does not support certain graphics card. Can you tell me which one you have? If you don’t know how to find out just do the following:
Click [Start] then [Run] then type in DXDIAG in the run window and click OK.
In the window that pops up (The DirectX Diagnostic Window) click on the [Display] tab. Your graphics card will be listed below [Device] to the right of [Name: ]
You can also go here for the exact help page for Directx problems for Sims 2.

MemberHey THANK YOU SO MUCH i got everything working but now it runs ssoooo slow and it takes about half an hour to get to the main screen!! so do u no if there is anything i can do to make my computer faster besides buying a new one??? and/or making the game faster???
Thanx xxxJanuary 6, 2005 at 11:36 pm #111134Jeff Hester
KeymasterYou’re very much welcome 🙂
As for making the game faster. You can try closing any program that can be running in the background (hit control alt delete and cancel the processes you don’t need running), disable things such as an Antivirus Program (as long as you are disconnected from the internet and then be sure to enable it). Also make sure you have updated all drivers (video, sound, etc etc) for your computer. Other than that the only thing you can do is get a faster computer with more memory and stronger video card.
Oh and on a side note, the first time you play the game, the main screen does take a long time to load, but after that first time, it loads fast. At least that’s how it was for me. I got the DVD version.

MemberI’m glad you got it to work and that screen DOES seem to take forever to load that first time. HEE HEE HEE…who knows…maybe one day we can have BBB Sims2 meeting online 😀 Happy Gaming. Oh….and watch out for those social bunnies….I thought I was seeing things….they TOTALLY freaked me out!

MemberI purchased the Sims 2 for my better half, when it first came out (dvd edition) the gameplay is more complex, and the graphics are awesome, although I had to bump up her video card to an ati raedon 9200 and another 256 stick of pc2700 ddr to get the main screen to load within a reasonable time.
Perhaps, you could use the /prefetch switch on the sims 2 shortcut, to have windows xp map it faster?
Just a thought.
As for the actual game, I would love to see some good sims hacks objects, I have only seen a very limited few sites in which you can get hacked objects.
Also, a quick notice and warning…
If you are exchanging lots on the sims 2 community exchange, be carefull as to what you are downloading.
If they have installed any hacks, you will automatically get them..

MemberHow to save the SIMS game (data) into a CD so that after I upgrade windows or reformat HD i can put it back into HD and play it from the last point instead of starting all over again? I’ve tried saving the program files before but didnt work. Thanks.

Participantjust save the folder (usually My Doc>EA Games> Sims2) to a CD or any removable storage where it wont be erased, then when you reinstall the game just replace the saved folder with the one just installed
