File this under “Things that make you go ‘huh?'”
Yes, Walmart’s German stores have sponsored “Singles Nights.”
April 9, 2005 at 1:55 am #113955Jeff HesterKeymasterIn my opinion, that’s pretty lame, but hey some old lady found a date. Then again I’m perturbed by 80 yr old’s who say that’s “my boyfriend/girlfriend”. I guess whatever floats people’s boat. I hardly see such an idea being a big hit were it to move here. *Shakes head and walks out wondering what’s next*
April 9, 2005 at 2:06 am #113961OreoMemberWell now it’s a store that has just about everything…
April 9, 2005 at 4:44 am #113967RabidKittenParticipantHey, all credit to Walmart, that’s where my exfiancee found the woman he left me for, so really, there must be something about the place that just does it for people. I think it’s all the low low prices that soothes them and put them into a false sense of security, then the music they pump out over the intercom. Sure, you’re hearing Duran Duran, but your mind is hearing “Ignore the sweatpants and the pathetic emptiness in her eyes, you’re not going to do much better.”
*chuckles* Heck, here, the walmart is already the late night hang out for 16-18 year olds. Why not have a hookup lounge in the back near the model airplanes and fabric remnants? Then they can just pick up condoms, pregnancy tests and yeast infection cleansers on their way in or out. The sales margines would be astonishing.

Its lame. Some people have too high standards. geeze. As far as I’m concerned, a night at Walmart shopping with your girlfriend or wife, is neat. Just going to see whats there, even if you need nothing. Grabbing a bite to eat at McDonalds, then heading out to a movie. .. makes me wish I had a girlfriend 🙁

You know. My perfect date is something like spending some time along with my gf alone somewhere, just lying back on grass, feeling the sun shine or the cool breeze, and listening her blabbering all along… Not going to some expensive restuarant and crap. Its just my bad luck that I come across girls who have “high tastes”. They are supposed to be called as “expensive girls”. So my comment was in regard to them….
April 15, 2005 at 9:40 am #113968RabidKittenParticipantSpeaking for all the sane girls in the world, I’d just like to point out that there’s nothing more awkward than sitting in a stuffy restaurant where you’re afraid to lean back or sit for that matter out of fear for wrinkling your clothes, and have to try and decypher what the hell the menu says.
High maintenance girls…pfft, what a joke. That’s a term that should strictly be given only to broken down, fixer upper houses and hot cars over 40 thou. If you have to put as much effort and money into your broken down shack as into your woman, or if you’re just as scared to take that car around the block as you are to talk to her, something’s wrong.

you’re joking, right? walmart is a nice place, as sam mentioned, for broke high school and college kids to go at 3 in the morning and there’s nothing else to do.
my ideal first date would be a concert and a bag of weed. no no, i’m kidding, i swear! for real though, a nice date doesn’t have to be at a fancy french restaurant or something. i’m fine with anything other than fast food, chinese, or any kind of seafood. going out for a few drinks is high up there too!
anything but walmart.
April 15, 2005 at 2:30 pm #113983m3rcyMemberum.. im sorry for being ignorant.. but what is wallmart? :S
April 15, 2005 at 4:36 pm #113963OreoMemberWOW! A place on earth it hasn’t seeped into….DO NOT let Walmart there….one of the following (or more could happen) They will take over the landscape and pop up every five miles or so….OR you’ll get addicted to the cheap do-dads….. Walmart is a HUGE store….sort of like a pharmacy…but it has inexpensive department store type things too…like bikes, patio furniture, books, food, tv’s, watches, garden plants….and in somes places….as Jeff mentioned…a place to meet people…
April 15, 2005 at 4:54 pm #113958detn8rParticipantyou guys suck. staring into the sky talking? looking at each other eat spaghetti? bah, too mushy for me :p
April 15, 2005 at 5:42 pm #113964OreoMemberActually Det, I know some people from New Zeland and they are pretty awesome. Some of them play Rugby…and they do so well. 😀 Anyway, I’ve seem many photos of the country and it’s gorgeous…so…I have to disagree…those guys don’t suck! 😛 (Even though I know you didn’t really mean that they suck…RIGHT!?)
April 15, 2005 at 6:29 pm #113977gossipingraeMemberDet, why would you need to go to WM on a date to “check out what’s there?” You already KNOW what’s there! It has just about everything. No need to “check it out.” Hahahaha.
