I have v2.6.9.103 Beta – and my cam shows up fine in Options, Video – yet I see absolutely NOWHERE to attempt to start it transmitting to someone else.
I contacted a “knowledgeable” friend, but he said he has only v 2.5, and video needs both parties to be on 2.6. I suspect that is utter garbage, as I think Skype video has been available since about last December.
But, can anyone tell me where to find ANY mention of cam/video APART from in the Options ?
(And please don’t just quote Skype Help – I’d love to hear from someone who has actually USED it).
ANSWER: I’ve now found there IS no mention of video UNTIL you are actually IN a call with someone, THEN there’s a little “turn on(/off) video” button at bottom of the Call window – but this seems to appear only with certain people.
I’ve now cammed successfully with 2 friends, one on 2.6 and the other on 2.5, who both also had cams. I assume it would still work in just one direction (i.e. if one party had no cam) but haven’t verified this as yet.
Thanks for the update, Eagle. I have not as yet delved into the cam, but will probably at some point so was waiting to see how and if it worked for you. And now I know it’s not only possible, but probable.
