Skype is an alternate IM application.
Yesterday it seems that Skype http://www.skype.com announced an updated beta release for it’s interesting IM (voice and text) application.
I only noticed this release, because for a short while, the Skype announcement was apparently blasted out broad enough to make it in the top list of News articles automatically spidered and displayed by Google-News at http://news.google.com. The announcement has since sunk down below the Google-News automated bot threshold level.
Recently updated Skype features apparently include Conference Calls, as well as a possibly nifty app called Pocket-Skype for Pocket-PC PDA’s. Hmmm….
And of course Skype also has a regular text-based IM feature.
One of these days I’ll install the update and try it out. I’m only interested in Skype because a partner uses it in their work in multiple countries. I generally like Skype for great-quality voice calls. I’m still a little hesitant about it however, due to Skype’s less-than-positive business backround related to Kaaza.
Does anyone else have any more scoop on Skype?
