Hi, when I instand message someone, it takes a long time for the text to be sent, and it delays me from typing again until after this. I would say that it takes about any message I send about 30 seconds. I have reinstalled numerous times. I am on Windows 2000 and on my other computer, a mac, I have no problems. Is there something I can change so the messages to friends go quickly? Thanks, Annie
August 16, 2003 at 3:36 pm #57055ShadowSlayer469MemberJust a question, where are your friends located? Near? Far?
August 16, 2003 at 3:42 pm #57062annie_loryParticipantThey are nearby. Thanks, Annie

August 16, 2003 at 8:30 pm #57051BrianMemberannie_lory–This sounds like there is issues with your Internet Service Provider.
What kind of connection are you using at the moment?
August 16, 2003 at 8:51 pm #57061annie_loryParticipantMy warning level is set at 0%, I am on a DSL connection on a router, and the AIM on the Mac that is connected is not slow so I do not think it is the connection. Thanks, Annie
August 16, 2003 at 9:13 pm #57052KPK102MemberAnnie, are you doing alot of other stuff when you are IMing, aka (downloading), on 50 websites?, on other programs?
August 16, 2003 at 10:49 pm #57057TigerbladeParticipantsometimes its nothing wrong with your computer or anything that you can change, sometimes its just the aim servers that cause it. i know its happened to me a few times, whether i’m at home on a modem, or at school on a fast T1 connection, or on my parents computer with a different operating system… of course there’s always the possibility that it IS something with your computer or settings, but chances are its just aim itself. unless its a constant 24/7 thing, in which case its probably a combination of something with your computer and aim
August 16, 2003 at 10:58 pm #57054DavidParticipantIs your computer slow in general? Does it take a long time to do things? Do you have a lot of programs running?
Try running AIM Express (http://www.aim.com) to see if it’s the AIM servers…
http://www.ad-aware.com might help clean up your computer a bit…
August 17, 2003 at 1:01 am #57059annie_loryParticipantThanks for all the replies. I am not doing anything other than using AIM when I encounter this problem. I have run Norton’s for viruses (none), deleted all spy and adware, and still have this problem. My computer runs okay and is not really slow so it is an isolated problem with this program. Thanks for all the help. Guess I will just delete it and not use anymore.

August 17, 2003 at 1:04 am #57053DavidParticipantYou could revert to an older version from http://www.oldversion.com and see if it helps.
August 17, 2003 at 5:37 am #57058annie_loryParticipantI downloaded Netscape and the instant messanger there, which can integrate with AIM. When I got through there, it is working ok so I deleted the old AIM file and will use it through Netscape. Thanks for the suggestions. I appreciate all the responses. Seems like I am ok now with accessing this way.:o
