ParticipantWith the backdoory buddy removal site not working anymore, how do you take your name off someone else’s list?

MemberIf the backdoor doesnt work there is another site and a program for it… but i dont think its allowed to post that site in here… 😎

MemberNo Webpages are now able to do it, they all just passed a set of form data to a Yahoo! CGI script, which they have updated and taken out these requests.
No programs which use the HTTP method allow this anymore either.
Chat clients using the YMSG protocols that have this feature still work I think, such as YaZak.

Memberbut there is a program for it. Is it still working?!

ParticipantAs Freddy suggested, try a chat client such as YaZak which offers the user name removal feature.

MemberI don’t get the use of that tool? What is the point?
It’s nothing more than an IE control stuffed into a frame. It uses the same webpages as the others used to?
Basically, it doesn’t work. And is a waste of bandwidth downloading.
All it does is ensure you login, http://login.yahoo.com/?.done=somepage
used to do this too. I don’t advise its use.

MemberFYI Freddy & Shifter….the YZak removal does not seem to be working either….. Otherwise I’m doing it incorrectly. You’re my hero Freddy….anything to save this damsel in distress this time??

MemberZak told me it worked. Another person told me the method of using the YMSG protocol works, but if you’ve tried it, it obviously doesn’t, meaning Yahoo! disabled it too, which can only be expected.
It’s good they stopped people being able to add you without permission, but they didn’t leave any time for people to get rid of those they don’t want to be on, which means you’re stuck with it.
I don’t believe there is any other method at all 🙁

MemberIt probably worked when you yaked with Zak (sorry for the poor spelling in rhyming…I just woke up). Thanks for the info anyway Freddy. And it’s VERY true…that it’s better they took away the add w/o permission. I just wish I’d gotten off of my behind earlier and checked out Yazak…since it was supposed to tell you who had you on their lists. I’d have LOVED to have known that! It’s a pretty good prog. and the Audio has been working better than YahELite…..though I love that prog. too b/c it’s obvious who’s spamming and you can warn others. Anyway…I’m off the topic. I’m sure you’ll update us if there’s a way to remove oneself from an unwanted list. I’ve got faith in you Freddy! 🙂 and Shifter Snugs and Jeff are right up there too! (Yikes more poetry…maybe I should write when I wake up more often…..)

MemberZak told me it still worked, he tested on one ID and it worked, and another and it didn’t work.
I get the idea on why it should work, Yahoo! could still manage to remove this though by just allowing one answer.
The way the YMSG method works is sending a packet as though you clicked deny on the initial request.

MemberSomeone kept trying to add me today (a new one) and it worked THEN. But I was not able to remove from an old list. I have been using the YMSG selection when I use YaZak. And I have to say..,other than that option not working…I still find it very easy to use. How would you suggest I use it?? Am I just using it wrong??

Memberlast i checked there was no feature on messenger allowing this thats probably why your having trouble but if some one bothers you you can still ignore them if the have you on there list…….when you go to site and log in to remove some one your opening yourself up for all kinds of things and you cant trust any of these sites that have the remove buddy on it because that in itself is not endorced by yahoo…if people keep trying to add you oreo why dont you use ignore
August 25, 2003 at 11:01 pm #56799Oreo
MemberI have used ignore and DO use ignore. But all that means is that someone can just use another ID. And then you have to ignore ANOTHER one and ANOTHER one and ANOTHER one. Sometimes when you just take them off they cannot remember your exact ID. And it just sends message…I don’t want to talk to you anymore…and now I’m sure that I’m not on your list. And the other one, is that when someone tries to add you again and again..and you finally have to ignore them, they can still put you on their list. That’s my reasoning…I don’t think it’s that different from many people out there.

MemberUPDATE! YaZak DOES remove your name off lists of other people. I tried again today on on of my other ID’s as a test. The key is NOT to say you don’t want a message sent to that person. If you say that’s it’s OK to send a message it will work….and I noticed that the message was not sent to me anyway. And I think it has to be the EXACT ID that they added you with…so you have to remember what ID the person added you under. I just thought I’d let you know. Make sure to THANK the creator of YaZak…b/c he’s pretty darn cool!:D
