I hate iPod’s period. HOWEVER — my sister got a 32GB iTouch for Christmas, and I’m so out of the loop with the iPod, that I need to ask some questions here.
First off, I don’t think it’s the 2G model, just the normal 32GB.
1) How do you remove duplicate songs from the Device menu and not the Library menu in iTunes 8?
2) What is “jailbreaking” the iTouch mean, is it recommended, and how can I find where to do it properly?
3) This model has the software version 1.1.4 — I cannot get the newest version free from Apple’s website. Is there an alternate way?
4) So far I know of the website Appulo.us : The iPhone and iPod Touch Application Index for free games/apps — most if not all require the software version 8+.. does anyone know of any other free app/game sites?
5) What else should I know/be able to do to this iTouch? 😎

I’ve never played with the iTouch, but I’ve got an iPhone and can comment a bit. Jailbreaking allows you to run applications that you get from a source other than the iTunes application directory. I’ve done it in the past, but seriously wouldn’t recommend it. It can cause issues. It does void the warranty (although theoretically you can restore it to it’s original state and Apple would never know). And there are a TON of great, FREE apps in the iTunes app directory now. So why take the risk?
As for the software update, spring for the update. It’s well worth it.
Also, if you’ve got a wifi connection, you can actually use your iPod Touch to make phone calls using one of the free apps like Fring.
