I put the word “parents” in quotations…because what this woman did is so disgusting…I do not think she deserves the name of “mother”
October 10, 2006 at 2:15 am #153179Jeff HesterKeymasterThat is disturbing. I know the news story doesn’t say, but do you think that just maybe drugs or alcohol were involved? Not that it would excuse her behavior, but it does lead people to do some really, really stupid and irrational things. And I want to believe that no one in their right mind would ever do something like that.
I fear for her other four children.

Yep, you nailed it, here’s a follow-up. But it’s still no excuse. Children are a gift to be nurtured and cherished, and that’s the real message that needs to get out there.

An hour ago there was a different article saying she had been drinking and was picking up random things to hit her boyfriend with . . . now it’s gone. GAH – I’ll keep checking to see what happened. Weird
I think I fixed it with a national link. Thanks for checking on that!
October 10, 2006 at 9:18 pm #153186TigerbladeParticipantwhat a terrific headline: “Mom Says She Didn’t Mean to Throw Baby at Boyfriend”
really? you didn’t mean to? that’s a relief. how do you not realize that you’ve picked up a kid instead of a lamp or wooden spoon? how drunk do you have to be to not realize that?
sickens me.
October 10, 2006 at 9:32 pm #153182OreoMemberWOW….it is just even more disgusting…the guy is sticking up for her. Talk about disfunctional. And who drinks that much with children around? They are responsible for those kids’ well-being…and just a four week old? Plus fighting in front of their kids…man…you think about this….then you think about all of the people who want kids and just cannot have them?
October 10, 2006 at 9:45 pm #153180Jeff HesterKeymasterBesides, every self-respecting parent knows that you always use teenagers to hit your spouse with. They’re much more effective.

not to make light of the situation, of course. it’s tragic. but sometimes, tragedies are best dealt with through humor.

October 13, 2006 at 1:47 am #153194MrOatsMemberA BABY AS A WEAPON? 2 WEEKS OLD?
I have never heard of something as bizarre, twisted, and WRONG as that, -ever.
I hope the baby turns out okay… And I hope that woman goes to a phyciatric ward, where she belongs after doing something like that.

for the record, the kid was 4 weeks old. those two weeks really make a difference. not.
and i imagine this woman will be spending quite a bit of time in a psych ward. you don’t swing your newborn around without getting sent there.
October 14, 2006 at 2:03 pm #153191gossipingraeMemberi agree. how do you NOT realize you’re throwing around a newborn?
October 14, 2006 at 7:04 pm #153193NessaParticipantgossipingrae;208857 wrote:i agree. how do you NOT realize you’re throwing around a newborn?I’m not trying to excuse what she did because it was indeed very bad, but i want to respond to this by saying:
When you are drunk/high:
How do you NOT realize that DWI can cause someone’s death even your own.
How do you NOT realize you are harming your own body (liver damage, killing brain cells, etc.)
How do you NOT realize you are doing stupid things especially those who lose all inhibitions and go a bit too crazy on the dancing/stripping…I could go on, and i know this doesn’t apply to everyone, but different people react different ways. Hence why some people shouldn’t drink or get high in the first place because they don’t know what they could end up doing. She may not have known what she grabbed being drunk or high enough, but that still doesn’t excuse what she did a bit. (Getting drunk or high while in care of a baby is just bad enough, even if nothing bad occurs.)
**And i realize some people are still at their senses when they do either of these things, but some just are too far gone. I know a lot of people who get drunk and still can know right from wrong and can still do lots of things right, but you do have the few that change**

I know a lot of people who get drunk and still can know right from wrong and can still do lots of things right, but you do have the few that change**which is why i rarely drink. i’m one of those who doesn’t really change much at all when they drink. even when i’m “drunk” i’m still in full control of my mental faculties — the only thing that changes is my physical coordination (walking in a straight line, etc). I’ve never gotten drunk to the point where I’ve blacked out or did something I’d regret, or lost track of what was going on.
but the reason I don’t drink much is that many of the people i would be drinking with do change, some considerably. and when that happens, it’s not a pretty sight.this woman should NOT have been drinking or doing drugs or whatever she was doing. i dont even care if it was in the presence of the kid or if it was in a different room or a different city. if you have a four-week-old child, you do NOT spend your time getting drunk/stoned with your boyfriend. you spend your time tending to that child’s needs.
reprehensible.
