so i sent someone an email via google, and shortly after, he was iming me on aim?! how is that possible. i didn’t tell him what my user name was on aim even though it is similar to my gmail user account.
he told me that it somehow just showed up on his buddy list. and someone else also did the same thing. he told me that he found my user name on his buddy list.
so can someone tell me what is going on?
what has probably happened is this person is either a classmate or workmate or knows you from somewhere else and already had your aim s/n. Maybe they picked it up from another person and had you added [with aim both sides dont “have to be friends” in order for a person to be on a buddy list] and forgot until you messaged them. It would be hard for an ordinary person to hack your email and search your files and extract your stuff in a matter of minutes. Actually it is hard for even da 1337z, don’t worry about it, if the person’s creepy – just block them. The question is, why’d you give them your email in the first place?
If you e-mailed him from the e-mail address that you registered your AIM name with, they probably used the “find buddy by e-mail address” wizard.
