Just wondering what’s going on with this. Now that DJ is no longer here, is it dead, or is someone else going to take it over? It was a really good idea, and quite popular with a lot of people, so I’d hate to see it gone.
June 12, 2005 at 12:42 pm #124114MartinBradleyMemberI’d like to see it continue, unfortunately, due to time constraints, I won’t put myself forward to take up the responsibility.
June 12, 2005 at 1:45 pm #124116TigerbladeParticipanti imagine it’s dead for the moment… it hasnt been updated since early April. if someone does decide they’d like to step up and revive it, I’m sure it’s a possibility… on a side note, if it is dead… perhaps the SAIS link image on the side should be removed?
and I’m same as Martin – i’d like to see it continue, but I can’t take it on myself.June 12, 2005 at 5:44 pm #124115imported_EvilSephMemberWhat exactly is it? 🙂
June 12, 2005 at 6:38 pm #124117TigerbladeParticipantJune 12, 2005 at 9:10 pm #124103Jeff HesterKeymasterIt was a fun test, but it didn’t really “fit” well with the site overall. I’m not opposed to restarting it, but personally I have other things to do at BBB that have a higher priority. For now, I’ll take it off the site.
June 12, 2005 at 9:13 pm #124110OreoMemberWell, it DOES take quite a long time to get that together. I spent countless hours trying to help DJ proof read (and still he often just kept things the same as he had them…but I won’t get into that) I am not really sure if ANY of us have the time to take it on… Granted it was a lot of fun and some people were really getting into it, unless some one knows of a program that takes ideas and puts them into other words…I’d have to say that until I get one HECK of a lot of vacation time I could not take it on either. Perhaps eacch of us could do ONE song per month…and eventually we’d have a bank of songs??? That might make it work and make it managable for all of us. 🙂

That might make it work and make it managable for all of us. 🙂that could potentially work, and it would possibly make for a wider variety of source songs. each of us knows and likes a particular style of music, so we’d all have different sources to work from. i like that idea… i should look through my playlist for songs i think would make good candidates. maybe we should start some kind of signup list for people who want to contribute?ALTHOUGH… in the end it depends on Jeff and whether or not he’s willing to continue giving prizes for the randomly selected winner…?
June 13, 2005 at 3:18 am #124104Jeff HesterKeymasterTSAIS did not do much for the website, from my perspective. It’s not as though that pushed people over from being simply guests to signing up as members (or at least, not many).
If we were to ressurrect TSAIS, the prize would be handled differently. I’d probably give an inexpensive token, but do so to each winner rather than the big drawing.
Elisa is right about the work behind it… it’s much more difficult than you might realize. Although we could simply run the lyrics through the lame Google translator a few times and see what it spits back. :p
Just for kicks… I gave it a try. I took the lyrics in English and translated them to German, then went from German to French, and from French back to English, and got this:
Quote:Each breath to take each to move you, which each to bind you to form, you with each stage to break, you to make to attention you to me each private individual day each word take, you to say, who each play you each night to become itself to me to make to attention you Oh- remain, to be able not you to see itself, to belong me to play, like my bad heart with each stage to damage they each to move to take, you each promise to form, you each smile to break, you each requirement to falsify, you to become to me to pay attention to connect to you, since you to go I without a dream traces it I the night to lose I your face to only see being able, I to look at more, however you to cover me to him to hold the crying baby, baby ask…, -, You cannot see OH you belonging to me, as my bad heart with each breath whom you take each movement, you each promise form, you each smile break, you each requirement falsify, you me become to make to attention you each movement connect, you each stage to form, you me become to pay attention you will take, me you will pay attention damages it me that it will pay attention me that it will pay attention me you that… will pay attentionAnd the original? Every Step You Take by the Police
Quote:Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
I’ll be watching youEvery single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
I’ll be watching youOh, can’t you see
You belong to me
How my poor heart aches
With every step you takeEvery move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I’ll be watching youSince you’ve gone I been lost without a trace
I dream at night I can only see your face
I look around but it’s you I can’t replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace
I keep crying baby, baby, please…Oh, can’t you see
You belong to me
How my poor heart aches
With every breath you takeEvery move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I’ll be watching youEvery move you make
Every step you take
I’ll be watching youI’ll be watching you
I’ll be watching you
I’ll be watching you
I’ll be watching you…Ok, that didn’t really prove anything other than software translators SUCK.
I don’t think each of us taking a song will work well. You need someone who is passionate about the concept. Jan was passionate about it, so it worked (sort of). TSAIS doesn’t really “fit” with instant messaging as well as it would with say, a lyrics website, so I think it should probably just die a quiet death.

Jeff… did you…. no. couldn’t be. could it?
June 13, 2005 at 5:29 am #124113Someguy03MemberIf you look VERY carefully at the closing, it says “Hyperbyte”…Sounds like a project that once was there but now is lost. Oh well.
June 13, 2005 at 6:58 am #124105Jeff HesterKeymasterBigBlueLyrics is a project Jan and I started together. I’ve given everything over to him but the domain name, and he may continue to develop a site. It’s something he was very interested in, and I hope he does something great with it.
June 13, 2005 at 8:57 am #124108sciencefeelingMemberTalking about this particular issue. I understand that DJHyperbyte was banned from the site for a good reason, that I won´t mention. But I am 100 percent sure that he is not happy with what he did, you know, sometimes we can´t control our own reactions. What if he apologizes and comes back to the site as a regular member?.
Just as an idea…

N.-You do not take down the website and then apologize and get to come back. Period.
June 13, 2005 at 12:41 pm #124111OreoMemberBut wasn’t he already “just a regular member” when he held the site hostage? I don’t know…in my humble opinion, a simple apology does not cut it. So many worse things COULD have happened to the site when that happened…what DID happen was bad enough. That’s just me though…it’s really up to Jeff and not the rest of us…he’s the one that had to deal with the headache of the hijacked site and who knows what else.
